Forgotten movie theme songs of 70s Part 3

by Bill

Hi

I just heard a couple of other movie theme songs when I was driving today. I have compiled some movie songs into a CD and just realised that there are still so many songs which I can talk about. For today, let's dwell on a few of these forgotten movie songs:

Chun Tian Chun Tian (Spring Spring) - This is the title track of the movie with the same name, starring Joan Lin, Alan Tam, Gui Ya Lei and Jiang Ming. The movie songs were all written by Tony Oong Ching Xi and performed by Pan An Pang. Pan also appeared as a singer for a short while in this movie. The movie title got changed into "Hua Pan Wu Chun Feng". I loved this song the first time I heard it, beautiful lyrics and easy to hum melody. Movie did not do that well but songs were great. Frankly I never did like Alan Tam in these 70s taiwanese movies. Felt that he is not masculine enough compared to Charlie, Chin Han or Alan Tang. Even Kenny Bee was better.

Wo De Chu Nian (My first love) - This was the title track of the movie starring Liu Wen Zhen paired with Zhang Ying Chen (who appeared in Didi's diary as the girl student who died in a car explosion). Also starring Gui Ya Lei, Huang Man, Li Dao Hung and Xia Ling Ling. Great cast, great story, heart warming plot. I loved the movie the first time it was released. Not sure if you remember the 3 lovely songs in this movie performed by Liu Wen Zhen: Besides Wo De Chu Nian, the other 2 lovely songs are: Yi Ge Wo Xi Huan de Nu Hai (The girl i love) and Hey Hey (which is a fast and lively track Liu sang when he interrupted Zhang's party. This was probably the only movie Zhang played a lead female role because in most other movies, she has always supported Tien Niu, Joan Lin or Lin Ching Hsia or Chen Chen. Zhang is cute and bubbly and I feel is a good actress. This film did not too badly. But somehow she was not that lucky in movie industry - too much strong competition.

Wen Ruan Jai Qiu Tian (Warmth in autumn) - This was a Chinese New Year blockbuster with a mega cast: Liu Wen zhen, Sylvia Zhang, Hu Ying Meng, Gu Ming Lun, Liu Ching Yu and Xu Kang Tai. All Liu Jia Chang's disciples. Movie is very Liu Jia Chang's style. Directed by Li Jiu So, songs by Liu Jia Chang, performed by Feng Fei Fei and Liu Wen Zhen. In fact, Feng also appeared in this movie as a singer. Storyline was alright. about sacrifices big brother Gu makes for his siblings. There were 3 songs written for this movie.

Ning Jing Hai (Quiet sea) - This movie starred Tien Niu and Hu Ying Meng and both stars were in love with the same man Ma Yung Ling. I found the movie well-written, story was credible, songs written by Ruo Ming Dao and sang by Sarah Chen Su Hua were lovely. There were 3 songs in the movie, 2 slow numbers and one fast track. I love the 2 slow numbers about Ning Jing Hai. Movie did not do that well in the box office. Pity. tien Niu and Hu performed extremely well with lots of feelings and pain in character. Unfortunately, they were not mega stars to compete with Lin Ching Hsia and Joan Lin at that time. Believe it was released at the same time as Lin Ching Hsia's Cai Xia Man Tien and Joan Lin's Wang Yang Jong De Yi Tiao Chuan. Movie also starred Chin Meng, who played Ma's sister but committed suicide in the movie. I am not sure if you remember Chin Meng, who played in many ghost story movies in the 70s which were extrememly popular. Try to watch this movie if you can. you won't regret it.

enjoy the walk with me.
