Forgotten movie theme songs of 70s Part 4

by Bill

Hi
just thought of a few other movie love songs, which were wonderfully written. some of these songs were successful in the charts, some were not. Some of the movies became more popular because of a particular song written for the movie, and that drew the audience to the box office.

Hua Ruo Sui Liu Hong - This is the title theme song for the movie of the same name. Movie was released under Shaw brothers back then, starring Zhou Dan Wei and Charlie Chin. This movie was made in parallel with "Qing Do Chu Kai" which also starred Zhou and Charlie together with tien Niu. The songs in the movie Hua Ruo Sui Liu Hong were well written. It was one of those movies which had 2 "Ju Ti Qu" - Hua Ruo Sui Liu Hong 1 and Hua Ruo sui lui hong 2, one being a faster track while the other was slower. Songs were written by Ruo Ming Dao and performed by Tien Lu Lu. Songs were quite popular then but the movie did not do well. Somehow the audience back in the 70s found it difficult to see Charlie pairing with any other stars other than chen chen, lin ching hsia or joan lin.

Woon Xi Yang - this is the theme song from the movie called "Wan Jian Xin Wen" or Evening News. It was made in the early 80s and marked the end of the taiwanese love story movies era. The movie did not do well. I can't remember the entire story but I knew it was about Wu Hui Zhong and Charlie Chin playing TV reporters and how they competed with each other and their love story. It also starred veteran great actress Gui Ya Lei. There were 2 songs written for this movie by Gu Yue and sang by Pan An Pang. The other cute song was called "Ni Jiao Se Mo Ming Je", or what is your name?

Wu Ching Huang Di You Qing Tian - this is the theme song and also name of the movie starring Lin Ching Hsia and Chin Han. If you get a chance to watch this movie, do so. It has a great story line and was filmed in the US. This movie was almost one of the last of Ching Hsia-Chin Han movie era. It was made probably about the same time as "Qing Peng", directed by Chin Han which was a flop. Anyway back to this Wu Ching Huang Ti movie. The title track was written by Tony Oong Ching Xi and performed by the late Teresa Teng, whose voice was extremely suited for this movie. The lyrics were wonderfully written: Chun Qu Chun You Lai, Hua Xie Hua You Kai, Li Ching Feng Her Yu, Wo Liang Geng Xiang Ai.The movie did rather well in the box office. Like I said, one of the best films at that time.

Xi Yang Shan Wai Shan - theme song from movie of same name. Written by Gu Yue and performed by child star Ji Pao Ru. Movie starred Chin Han and Xie Ling Ling. Movie did not do well because again the audience could not accept Chin Han pairing with Xie Ling Ling. There was not much chemistry between the 2 stars. Xie had tried to breakthrough as a leading actress but somehow not much success. Xie was famous for her child star roles in Wan Jun Piao Mei etc in the late 50s but she did not have much luck in female leading characters. Another failed attempt was with Liu Shang Jian in Wu Mang Mang. She was more successful playing supporting roles to Lin Ching Hsia (Misty moon, Yen Er Jai Ling Shao), to Lin Feng Chiao (Jai Xing, Wang You Cao). She later married one of the HK millionaires, but is now divorced.

Ok, that's all for today. will write again if you enjoy reading it. let me know.
