Yes, Yun Piao Piao, Yun Her and Yen Yu were made around the same time. Yun Her was produced first but Yun Piao Piao was first released and became a big hit which then paved the way for Yun Her to enjoy relatively good success in the box office. Yen Yu was released as a Chinese New Year block buster and at that time, was considered a "Da Dui To" or movie with a big mega cast. The film did quite well at the box office.
All the songs were written by Liu Jia Chang. My understanding was that originally Yun Her was supposed to be sang by Jenny but due to some copyright and legal issue, they could not produce songs by Jenny under Kolin label. That was why Yun Her was released as a soundtrack under Kolin label by new singer at that time, Tracy Huang Ying Ying. That spearheaded Huang's career. I believe it is till today a sore point with Jenny, because her version of the song was used in the movie but the success went to Tracy.
Yen Yu was again a similar issue. The songs were supposed to be produced under Kolin label but Jenny had her contract with Hai Shan label, so Jiang Lei became the original singer to release this soundtrack, which I must say sounded much much better than Jenny. Jiang Lei has got the right voice for this song. Liu Jia Chang's version of Yen Yu was fantastic. You should not miss the other 2 songs written for the movie: Kwai Le Jai Mei Yi Tian and Huan Shiao.
Yun Piao Piao is of course a trademark soundtrack for Jenny - and the song that propelled her to fame is the famous song "Tian Chen Huo Puo you mei li", but the soundtrack also featured other lovely songs. My personal favorites are "Bu Shi Meng" and "Shi Lei Hai shi Yu".
