Forgotten movie songs

by Bill

Hi

it has been a while since we discuss movie songs which are forgotten. We always seem to hear the common ones like Feng Ye Qing, Hai Ou, Qing Shi Duo Yun Ou Chen Yu, XinYou Qian Qian Jie, etc. These songs are always available and have been released over and over again.

There are still thousands of other movie songs which have had limited release, some not even released in CD format. These are songs which were lovely written for the movies of the 70s but have been forgotten. Today, I would like to take us through some of these.

Ai Qing Lei Feng Yu - by Yang Ya Hui, movie was produced by Shaw brothers starring Niu Niu, Er Tung Sheng, Chen Sze Jia, etc. It was one of the efforts of Shaw to produce love story movies but unfortunately was not as successful as those from Taiwan. The stars were relatively new at that time and did not have the power of Chen Chen or two Lins and two Chins. Song is lively and cute.

Mi Mi Xiang Sze Ling - by Chen Ying Jie, 5 songs written by Ruo Ming Dao for the movie. One of his best compositions. Movie starred Li Ching and Liang Xiu Sheng, about 2 lovers - one Japanese girl and a Taiwanese man during the Japanese occupation of Taiwan - could withstand the time and separation to reunite again much later.

Meng Hu - by Qiu Yuan Shu, 4 songs for the movie written by Gu Yue. beautifully written and the movie starred Chin Han and Tang Pao Yun. This was their only movie where they played lovers. Tang played a motherly figure in the movie Yi Ke Hong Do starring Chin Han and Lin Ching Hsia, only a couple of years later.

Bi Yun Tian - by Chen Lan Li and Yu Tian, 6 songs written for the movie by Tony Oong Ching Xi and Huang Ren Ching. the songs express the emotions very well in this movie, starring Lin Feng Chiao, Chin Han and Sylvia Zhang. Movie was directed by Li Hsing and based on novel of Qiong Yao. Great movie hit back then. The forgotten songs are the other songs in the movie besides title track "Wei Qu Wei Liao ni".

will add on more at the next session. feel free to comment.

Hi
Feng ling Feng Ling - I have the title track performed by Chen Fen Lan and Cui Tai Qing. Also all the other songs (6 songs by Cui Tai Qing and Yu Tian).I like the songs Ai Shen, Ying Je Ai de Feng, and a song written for Lin Feng Chiao's visit to Singapore in the movie.

Lang Hua - I have managed to collect all the 4 songs from the movie: Lang Hua, Lang Hua Cui Xing Qing Ren Meng, Yun Yi Duo, Hey Nian Ching Ren. All great songs written by Oong Ching Xi.

Bai Hua Piao Xue Hua Piao - only managed to collect the title track "Bai Hua Piao Xue Hua Piao". There are 5 other songs performed by Cui Tai Qing and Li Pei Ching, but not available till now.

There are also other collections I have from Lin Feng Chiao movies:
Qing Sheng Ai Yeh Sheng - co star Chin Hsiang Ling - songs written by Oong Ching Xi and performed by Wu Xiu Chu - 4 songs for the movie

Chi Qing Ke Wen Tian - co star Chin Han, 4 songs written by Gu Yue and performed by Wu Xiu Chu

Fei Yue de Ai Qing - co star Charlie Chin, songs by Gu Yue and sang by Wu Xiu Chu - 3 songs.

Re: Forgotten movie songs

by kok

Chi Qing Ke Wen Tian was shown in KL at the same time as He Never Give Up. If not mistaken, the story was about Lin Feng Jiao who had a crush on her cousin brother played by Jiang Ming. At the end of the movie, she committed suicide when her cousin brother was getting married. Her cousin brother not knowing about that had put a blame on Chin Han. Hope this is correct.

Only one Joan Lin's movie songs was sang by Feng Fei Fei. The rest of Joan Lin's movie songs were sang by variety of singers such as Wu Xiu Chu (in quite a number of movies), Yu Tian, Chen Lan Ni, Cui Tai Qing, Teresa Teng, Siao Li Chu, Jenny, etc.

Re: Forgotten movie songs

by Bill

Hi Kok

yes, the story of Chi Qing Ke Wen Tian is very depressing and sad. I did not really like the movie as much back then. Songs by Gu Yue were lovely though.

Interesting that you mentioned there was only one movie from Joan that Feng Fei Fei sang. Many of Feng fei fei's soundtracks are for movies by Lin Ching Hsia. I remember that back then for taiwanese romantic love story movies, there was the Iron Triangle: Lin Ching Hsia with Charlie or Chin Han PLUS Qiong Yao PLUS Feng Fei Fei songs, was the box office success formula.

Actually, Feng Fei Fei also performed songs written by Liu Chia Chang for the movie Jing Sui Lo Tai, starring Lin Feng Chiao and Alan Tang. However, the director ultimately chose the songs by Gu Yue and sang by Teresa Teng.

Summer, Holiday and Rose starring Lin Feng Chiao, Charlie Chin, Tian Niu, Shi Feng, featured songs written by Gu Yue and performed by Feng Fei Fei. This was one of the succesful 3 boys vs 3 girls love story movies of the 70s. This is the only movie I can think of where Lin Feng Chiao and Feng Fei Fei teamed up. Strange, isn't it? There are several contributing factors, the director's choice, the composer's choice which will bring the singer together with the movie and its stars.

Good observation.

Re: Forgotten movie songs

by kok

Interesting to note when Lin Ching Hsia stopped acting in Qiong Yao's movies, it also marked the end of Iron Triangle as Feng Fei Fei had also ventured in the movie and had stopped singing the theme songs in Qiong Yao's movies. The role in Qiong Yao's movies was replaced by the new actress at that time i.e. Li Hsiu Ling and the songs were sang by new group of Singers including Pang An Bang, Fei Xiang, etc. Ran Shao Ba Huo Niao brought Lin Ching Hsia and Li Hsiu Ling together and the themesongs were sang by Gao Ling Feng.

What about the song Chiao He (Concidence) sang by Feng Fei Fei? Which movie is it? Lin Feng Jiao also had starred in a movie with the title Chiao He.

I have never watched Lin Feng Jiao's movie Yi Ge Mo Shen Ni Hai De Lai Shin. Wonder what is the storyline?

Re: Forgotten movie songs

by Bill

Hi Kok

The song Ciao He was written by Tony Oong Ching Xi for the movie "Wo Ai Sha Gua" starrting Zhang Kui and a new actress who starred subsequently with Tien Niu in Jian Jian Feng. Her name is if I remember correctly was Jiang Xin Yi. This song became an instant hit for Feng Fei Fei. In this movie there were 3 other songs: Duo Kan Yi Yen, Wo Ji Yao Kan Jian Ni and Jui. Great songs, worth collecting.

A movie which lin Feng Chiao starred in which is called Ciao He, I can't remember. I know there was a movie she starred in and the title song is called Ciao Yu (meeting by chance) and the first verse of the song has Ciao He in it. This movie was called Bi Hai Qing Tian or when it was shown in Singapore, it was called 1 min past nine. Also costarred Alan Tang. Great songs written by Oong Ching Xi and sang by Cui Tai Ching.

"Letter from a strange girl" - was based on a famous European novel. it starred Lin Feng Chiao and Li Hsiang. Story was about how Lin Feng Chiao fell in love, got pregnant then left the lover and then sent him this letter. The songs were great, written by Liu chia Chang and performed by Jiang Lei. There were 3 great songs: Yi Feng Xing, Na Li Qu Shuin Cao Wo De Ai, and Hua Xiang Liu Ren Jian.

Somehow the new generation singers after Feng Fei Fei, Jenny, You Ya, did not give such lasting impression to listeners. Some of them were easily forgettable.

Hi,

The movie was named as "Three Minutes Past Nine" and not "One Minute Past Nine". Remember Lin Feng Jiao damaged Alan Tang's watch and the watch had stopped at Three Minutes Past Nine.

Wonder why Lin Feng Jiao left her lover in "Letter from a strange Girl". Was her lover an unknown actor?

Losing sight of the objective

by Bill

Hi
seems like this forum has been neglected by the true 70s taiwanese movie lovers. wish we could actively participate in this forum again and keep the objective of this forum alive.

Can you think of movies where Lin Ching Hsia, Lin Feng Chiao and Chen Chen played a role from young to old?

these are some I can think of:

Chen Chen
- Huang Pu Jun Hoon - co starring Ke Chun Hsiong, Hu Yin Meng, Zhou Dan Wei and Tien Niu. Great movie by Liu Chia Chang

Lin Ching Hsia
- frankly I can't think of any? I can only think of her playing a teenager to a married woman like Girlfriend (with Charlie Chin), Hai Shi Shan Meng (with Chin Han), Wu Qing Huang Di You Ching Tian (with Chin Han).

Lin Feng Chiao
- Wo Chung Shan Chong Lai - costarring with Chin Han, about her losing her memory and ending up marrying a crook and raising his child as her own
- Yuan Xiang Ren - directed by Li Hsing, her Golden Horse winning performance with Chin Han. She played from young girl till middle-age mother role.
- Wang Yang Chong De Yi Tiao Chuan - also directed by Li Hsing - a tough movie for her and Chin Han to make. A lot of sacrifices and sufferings during the filming. She also played her role till middle-age.

Feel free to add on.

One-off movie soundtrack singers

by Bill

Hi
well, who can I talk about today?

There were several singers in the 70s who tried to break in with a successful soundtrack album. Some succeeded, some failed. Those who failed did not mean that their albums were bad. Some were greatly produced but they just did not make it for many reasons: lack of publicity, timing, too much competition, etc.

I would like to highlight some here in the forum:

Kang Ja Lan - she did one album called Du Juen Hua Kai Shi - movie starred Charlie Chin and Lin Feng Chiao, the movie did not do well in the box office as well. it was one of the last movies by Feng Chiao.

Fei Chen Ling - the sister of fei yu qing. Only one album, songs from Cui Hu Han, starring Chin Han and Lin Feng Chiao. She has excellent voice, the songs were great, written by Ruo Ming Dao - there were 3 songs written for the movie. Movie did well in box office but the singer did not. She disappeared from the scene shortly after.

Wang Xiao Chin - she has a voice like Jiang Yin, and produced an album for movie Ai Qing Shan Ji Tiao, starring Chelsia Chan and Alan Tam. funny movie, I liked it. also starred Gui Ya Lei. Directed by Bai Jin Rui. Ruo Ming Dao did try to promote her as new generation singer after Feng Fei Fei and Jenny, but the public did not accept it.

Hua Xuan Xuan - She is not a new singer, she was with Kolin label. At that label she did a soundtrack called Shi Ji Lu Ko (Crossroads) a touching movie starring Ivy Lin Po, Ching Han, Han Xiang Ching, Tang Wei. The songs were written by Lin Jia Ching. Liu Jia Chang also tried to promote her by writing her a great song "Dian Dian Xi Yu" but did not help much in her career. She has got a unique voice, would have liked to see more of her. She went to Hai Shan and produced a movie album "Tai Tai Ching Ren Nu Png You", starring Ke Chun Hsiong, Liu Shang Qian, Chuo Yen Rong. Movie flopped but there were 3 great songs written by Ruo Ming Dao for the movie.

enjoy and if you can think of other forgotten singers, pls share.

Forgotten singers

by Bill

Hi
there were so many 70s movie soundtrack singers. some were successful some were not. Some came with a bang but sizzled down very quickly. Some were successful in the early 70s and tried to make a come back but failed. One of such examples I can remember is Wan Sa Lang. I am sure you will remember Wan Sa Lang's powerful voice in the title tracks of movies Feng chong na li lai and Hai Ou Fei Chu. However, with new singers like Liu Wen Chen, Fei Yu Qing, Xu Wei, Gao Ling Feng coming on stream, the audience's taste changed and Wan Sa Lang had fewer followers. I remember he tried to make a come back with the song he sang for the movie "You Lan Jai Yu Chong" starring Lin Ching Hsia and Alan Tang. Film was directed by Lo Ma. The title track was also performed by Tian Lu Lu, who was a shining star then. Wan Sa Lang sang the cha qu "Xiang Yu" or "Meet again" in the movie. The song was written by Gu Jia Hui, very nice and touching song. But the audience did not support the album of Wan Sa Lang. We did not hear much of him after that.

Another power singing trio of the 70s movie soundtracks was "Yuan Yeh Shan Chong Chang". Do you remember them? They performed lovely tracks from the following movies:
- Hai Yun - songs like Chi De Wo Chi De Ni were written by Gu Yue. The movie starred Xiao Fang Fang and Chin Han - another great movie.
- Sui Lian Yi - starring Chen chen and Alan tang.
- Wei Sen Mo Ai Shang Ni - starring Chen Chen and Alan Tang. The unforgettable song they did was "Wei Chen Liu Xia Di Ji" which is still today one of the classics.
- Pan Shan Piao Yu Pan Shan Qing - starring Tien Niu, Charlie Chin, Han Xiang Ching. The soundtrack also featured Feng Fei Fei. But I loved the song version by the trio.
- Ai Qing Duo Piao - starring Tien Niu and Alan Tang. great movie, I just watched it on VCD recently. Enjoyed the film and songs. There were several songs also performed by You Ya. Yuan Yeh Trio sang the song "Ai Xi Zhi Ji" in the movie - fantastic.
- Dong Pian Qing Shi Xi Pian Yu or Come Rain come shine - the movie starred Tang Pao Yun, Charlie Chin and Jenny - great comedy of early 70s. also shot Jenny's career to success with the songs.
- Yu Chong Xing or Walk in the rain - movie starred Tang Pao Yun and Charlie Chin - sad movie but lovely title track also performed by Jenny. Yuan Yeh's version is also classic.

I may have forgotten some movie soundtracks but these are some of the successful ones. Notice that all the songs they performed for movies were written by Gu Yue, with whom they have a strong relationship. They are one of the only all time classic trio who have performed so many 70s movie songs.

The trio ultimately did an album singing Chinese Folk songs but disappeared from the scene.

Enjoy the music if you find them. I certainly have a great collection of theirs.

Lin Qing Hsia & Gu Ming Lun just don't click

by Anonymous

Yun Piao Piao aka Gone With the Wind and Moon River aka Yun He

Found these 2 movies rather disappointing. Somehow Lin Qing Hsia and Gu ming Lun just did not have the type of chemistry that Liu Jia Chang was hoping to develop. I dont know if some of you have noticed but movies of the 1970s which were directed by Liu Jia Chang somehow has the male lead as Gu Ming Lun. He was obviously trying to push Gu Ming Lun to stardom. However if I remember right,it never materialise as Gu committed suicide before he could achieve what Liu Jia Chang had hope to establish.

Tang Bao Yun and Kwan Shan in Yun Piao Piao were at their best in Yun Piao Piao. Songs were good too.

My only consolation is that these DVDs released by Hoker which I purchased from Taiwan for about S$9 all came with a music CD ( with lyrics) featuring some of the more popular 1970s movie sound tracks by Liu Jia Chang, Feng Fei Fei, Han Bao Yi, Hsiao Li Choo, Zhen Ni, Gao Ling Feng, Liu Wen Zheng etc. The music CDs are all different but all of them are songs from that 1970 era.

I also bought September Song, Misty Drizzle, The Lost Romance and The Melody of Love.I now recollect who the dashing Tian Peng is. How could I have forgotten this actor who looks as good as Alan Tang? I really enjoyed walking down Memory Lane. My this working trip to Taiwan was not futile.

Warning to those which wish to buy the DVDs with the free music CD, do be careful. There is a sticker on the box to highlight this free gift. So dont buy those without the sticker. Only certain places in Taipeh have this promotion. I bought these from a store at Taipei Che Zhan

Re: Lin Qing Hsia & Gu Ming Lun just don't click

Liu Jia Chang had also arranged Chen Chen and Gu Ming Lun as couple in movie. I remember that my mother said that they didn't look like a couple in the movie because it seems that Liu Jia Chang had made Chen Chen and Gu Min Lun standing or sitting far apart and therefore could not portray the close relationship as a pair of lover.

Liu Jia Chang may have tried to groom Gu Ming Lun in his career but he was also the person who was said to be linked to the death of Gu Min Lun.

Aging with grace Part 2

by Bill

Hi

got some time since it is sunday. Thought I should continue with the other veteran actresses. Let me write about Gui Ya Lei today.

Gui Ya Lei - an amazing character actress. She did not have the beauty of actresses like Li Li Hua, Tang Pao Yun or Chen Chen. But she is such a wonderful actress. One of the top notch Taiwanese actresses till today. She started catching the audience attention in Home in Taipei where she played the dutiful wife of Ke Chun Hsiong. Then she was cast as lead actress in Qiong Yao's Ting Yuan Sheng Sheng which shot her to fame. She was also a favorite of Liu Jia Chang back in the late 60s. He cast her as lead actress in "Ji Yao wei ni Huo Yi Tian" which featured great songs from Liu and performed by You Ya. I remembered that Liu paired with Gui in this movie, which was a hit because of the title song. Gui also starred in Liu's big Chinese New Year movie "Yi Jia Ren" or All in the family, also starring Judy Ong, Wang Ping and Tang Pao Yun. Gui is so suitable as a hardworking and less glamorous housewife. When Chen Chen, and the 2 Lins came into the scene, Gui found herself moving on to mother or aunty roles. She appeared opposite Chelsia Chan in "Ai Ching Shan Ji Tiao" and "Yen Er Gui" and as mother of Zhang ying Chen in the movie "Chu Lian Feng Pao" starring opposite Liu Wen Zhen. She also starred as the mother of Lin Ching Hsia in "Sha Tan De Yue Liang". She also starred in a few Qiong Yao movies playing the mother roles, such as "Ju Shan Liang Yi Yi" starring Ru Xiu Ling and "Burn Phoenxi Burn" starring Lin Ching Hsia. She won her second Golden Horse award for best supporting actress in Didi's diary, which also won Tien Niu Best actress award in that same year. Gui starred in some war related movies like "Jong Guo Nu Bing" and "Diary of a lady soldier". She also appeared in one of the last movies from Liu Jia Chang, called "Feng Sui Shan Shi Nian" costarring Chen Chen, Chin Han and Ke Chun Hsiong. There are too many of her movies to name here, but she has always played important pivotal roles in those movies, without her, those movies would lose some of its shine. Gui has never stopped as we moved on to the 80s and 90s. One of her memorable roles are "Jin Tian Bu Huey Jia" costarring Sylvia Zhang and Du Der Wei, as well as "Eat Drink Man Woman". But most impressive of all, is the movie "Wedding Banquet" which won her another best supporting actress award at the Golden Horse Ceremony, alongside Lang Hsiong, who sadly passed away not long after. Till today, Gui has been active in Taiwanese TV series. We saw her in Qiong Yao's TV series like "Ching Ching Her Bian Cao" and "Chi Chong Men" starring Liu Xue Hua. Kudos to Gui Ya Lei, without her, Taiwanese movies would not have been so memorable.

I hope I have not been too long winded. I am just excited talking about this amazing Taiwanese actress Gui Ya Lei, who has stretched her career from the 60s to the 21st century, always trying new roles, taking on new challenges, carving her 2nd spring. I hope we will see more of this evergreen actress Gui Ya Lei - truly a blossoming Pei Lei. Thank you Gui Ya Lei, big sister Gui for your achievements and memories you brought us.

Aging with grace

by Bill

In the late 60s, Taiwanese movies were dominated by actresses like Tang Pao Yun, Gui Ya Lei, Wang Ling, Jiang Ching, Wang Mo Cho, Tang Lan Hua, Tien Ni and Li Hsiang. It was the era of character actresses, focusing less on looks but more on their acting skills. Then came the 70s, where we first saw the rise of Chen Chen, then followed by Lin Ching Hsia and Lin Feng Chiao.

The movie queens of the 60s suddenly lost their shine as Chen Chen and the 2 Lins got brighter and brighter...

Actresses like Tang Pao Yun, Gui Ya Lei, Tang Lan Hua, Tien Ni and Li Hsiang did not give up and tried re-inventing themselves.

Tang Pao Yun - she still managed to hang on to playing lead actress roles in movies like "Yen Yu Xie Yang", "Wan Qiu", "Yi Jia Ren", "Suang Feng Fei", "Chu Lian Jai Taipei". She even starred opposite Charlie Chin in "Come Rain Come Shine" and "Walk in the rain", as well as opposite Chin Han in her only movie with him, called "Dream lake", which is a beautifully made movie. She played a lady who lost her memory and was discovered by Chin Han at Dream lake. The songs were also beautifully composed by Gu Yue and performed by Qiu Yuan Chu. Tang was actually still her 30s but reality is cruel in Taiwanese silver screen and she had to give in to competition. She went quiet for some time but made a guest appearance in "The love seed" or Yi Ke Hong Do, starring Lin Ching Hsia and Chin Han. She played the mother of Zhang Lu in the movie. And plays a character one generation older than Chin Han, who she once played her lover in Dream lake. It must have been a hard hit for Tang at that time. She appeared in another epic movie called "Tian Xia Di Yi" and family drama "Bing Dian" where she played the mother of Yang Ya Hui. She then disappeared from the screen. I understand that she became mentally unstable, bankrupt and passed away due to illness a couple of years ago. A sad ending for a shining star of the 60s. She used to be the gem of Director Li Hsing's movies (Yang Yak Ren Jia, Qiu Chue, Wang Jun Piao Mei etc), until he discovered Chen Chen and ultimately Lin Feng Chiao who starred in practically all his movies.

I will talk about the other actresses the next time. Let me know if you find this interesting for the forum. Feel free to comment. Only then will the forum be exciting for the 70s movie fans.

Another charming and sweet actress - You Min

by Thomas

Tks to Bill for keeping this forum alive.
I would like to wind the memory clock a little further back.
One of my favourite stars is You Min of the then Cathay organisation. She is simply too adorable and I thought Chen Chen looks like her in some way.I remembered watching her 2 movies, 'Ti Yu Huang Hou' and 'Ti Xiao Yin Yuan'. Excellent.

Bill to my rescue?

Bill, Do you happen to remember the English title of the movie Yi Nan Wang. The female lead if I remember right is Ai Li and the male lead was Ke Jun Hsiung. If I am not wrong, Ai Li and Ke Jun Hsiung were cousins and Ke was a reputable pianist.

Re: Bill to my rescue?

You are right about Ai Li and Ke Chun Hsiong. I cannot remember the plot because I watched it with my parents when I was very very young. I remembered my dad had the soundtrack in LP format and used to play that song. Was the original singer Mei Dai? Yi Nan Wang - I really cannot remember the English title. At that time, I was concentrating alot on Shaw brothers movies. I got interested in Taiwanese movies from Tang Pao Yun, Tien Ni, Gui Ya Lei, Chen Chen and the 2 Lins onwards.
sorry not much help there.

Pairing of leading actresses in the 70s

by Bill

hi
not sure if I have done this analysis before. but thought it would be interesting to see which leading actresses of the 70s have or have not teamed up with each other. Let's flash back to the 70s and enjoy some of these beautiful moments where our favorite leading ladies teamed up on the screen to create the magic for us.

Now, the leading actresses of the 70s in no particular order would include Chen Chen, Lin Ching Hsia, Lin Feng Chiao, Tien Niu, Sylvia Zhang, Wang Chuan Ru, Chelsia Chan, Hu Ying Meng and Ru Xiu Lin. There are many more but to me these are probably the ones belonging to the A+ and A- categories.

Now who have teamed up with whom in the movies? And who has never worked with the other?

Chen Chen teamed up with:
- Tien Niu in Huang Pu Jun Hoon directed by Liu Chia Chang
- Hu Ying Meng in Chen Chen De Ai costarring Chin Han
She had never worked with the 2 Lins, Sylvia Zhang or Wang Chuan Ru

Lin Ching Hsia teamed up with:
- Tien Niu in An unforgettable character costarring Chin Han
- Tien Niu and Sylvia Zhang in Eight hundred warriors, a war epic costarring Chin Han and Ke Chun Hsiong
- Chelsia Chan in Yi Dui Sha Niao (or Lian Ai Fan Do Shing) also starring Chin Han and alan Tam
- Ru Xiu Lin in Burn Phoenix Burn (based on Qiong Yao novel) costarring Liu Wen Zhen and Yun Chong Yue. This movie was symbolic because it was Lin passing the baton to Ru for future Qiong Yao movies
- Hu Yin Meng in Clouds of romance costarring Charlie Chin and Chin Han
Lin has not teamed up with Chen Chen or Wang Chuan Ru on the screen. However Ching Hsia appeared in the same movie as Lin Feng Chiao in a military movie "Chen Gong Ling Shang" which featured all big names and stars. But they did not appear in the same scene.

Lin Feng Chiao teamed up with:
Tien Niu in Love, Diploma and Jeans costarring Liu Wen Zhen
Tien Niu in Shang sisters costarring Chin Han
Tien Niu in Summer, Holiday and roses costarring Charlie Chin
Tien Niu in Ching Hua Mien Mien, costarring Charlie Chin and Shi Feng
Sylvia Zhang in Bi Yun Tian (Qiong Yao novel) costarring Chin Han
Sylvia Zhang in Ai Ching Pao Mi Hua or Tiao Yue de Ai Ching costarring Liu Wen Zhen and Shi Feng
Sylvia Zhang in Lang Hua or Waves of love costarring Chin Han, Ke Chun Hsiong
Wang Chuan Ru in You Shi Chi Feng Shi and Man Shan Hua Kai Yi Pian Ching - both costarring Chin Han and Gu Ming Lun and movies were produced in parallel
She however did not team up with Chen Chen on the silver screen before.

Tien Niu teamed up with:
Lin Feng Chiao on several movies mentioned above.
Sylvia Zhang in Ching Ser San Mai costarring Liu Wen Zhen
Sylvia Zhang in Men Li Men Wai costarring Liu Wen Zhen and Xia Ling Ling
Sylvia Zhang in Seventeen, Eighteen directed by Liu Chia Chang
Sylvia Zhang and Hu Yin Meng in Mei Hua directed by Liu Chia Chang - a big box office hit and lovely songs

Sylvia Zhang teamed up with:
Wang Chuan Ru in Luo Ye piao piao costarring Chin Han
Hu Ying Meng in Wen Ruan De Qiu Tian, Xing Yu, Qiu Chan

Chelsia Chan costarred with:
Hu Yin Meng in Di Er Dao Chai Hong costarring Kenny Bee - that was Chelsia's second Taiwanese movie
Chelsia became the leading lady in subsequent movies teaming up with Chin Han, Charlie Chin and Liu Wen Zhen

Hope I covered most of the team work between the leading actresses and hope you have enjoyed this walk down memory lane.

Re: Pairing of leading actresses in the 70s

by Bill

I just remembered a beautifully made movie which brought together Hu Yin Meng and Tien Niu for the first time, and that was Ning Jing Hai (quiet sea), costarring Ma Yung Ling, Chin Meng, Chen Sha Li and Jiang Ming. Great songs performed by Sarah Chen Su Hua, her first movie soundtrack, which was written by Ruo Ming Dao.

Some leading actresses have extremely good chemistry with the others, while others don't seem to work. I personally find Tien Niu's combination with Lin Feng Chiao very good. Sylvia Zhang and Tien Niu seem to work very well on screen together.

Each of the leading actresses were able to carry off the leading role on their own. Each of them had successful box office hits just based on their own charm and talent. Each had their fair share of awards, e.g. Tien Niu for Didi's diary and Girls' School, Chen Chen for Ying Lei Chian Qiu, Lin Ching Hsia for Ba Bai Chuang Shi or 800 warriors, Lin Feng Chiao for Story of small town or Xiao Chen Gu Shi, and Yuan Xiang Ren, both very challenging roles directed by Li Xing. Well, next time we can talk about which directors prefer to use which leading actresses. They somehow have their preferences or favorites too. Even for movie songs, composers have their favorite singers to perform and interprete their songs too.

What I have not discussed is the earlier generation of leading actresses, before Chen Chen and lin ching hsia. They are Gui Ya Lei, Li Hsiang, Tang Pao Yun, Tang Lan Hua, Tien Ni - they dominated the 60s to early 70s taiwanese love story movies too. We will leave that for next time.

Enjoy...

Re: Others who acted in a few shows

by Bill

Hi Thomas

these were the so-called next generation leading actresses (together with Ru Xiu Ling) after the 2 Lins and chen chen. Not all of them were successful of course.

I spoke about Ru Xiu Ling. Let's see if I can analyse the few names you mentioned below:

- Wu Hui Zhong - fame through her first movie "Huan Yen". She subsequently went on to do a few movies such as Xun Meng de Hai Ji with Kenny Bee, Wan Jian Xin Wen with Charlie Chin, but no major successes, before she then moved on to the HK film industry and did some action movies like "Fang Shi Yu" with Xiao Fang Fang and other policewomen roles. She had not teamed up with any other leading actresses, except in the movie "Feng Siu Er Shi Nian", where she worked with Chen Chen.

- Ying Chai Ling - was onced crowned as the next lin ching hsia. She did have some of the qualities but in terms of acting, she was not as natural or "fang", and her roles tend to be limited. She had a few successes in the box office like "Yi Si Liu Sui" with Zhang Guo Chu and "Mei Li Yu Ai Cho" with Kenny. She appeared together with Lin Ching Hsia and Jiang Ling in a woman's movie called "Zhong Guo Nu Bing". That was a mega cast movie shown during chinese new year about a group of girls played by Lin Ching Hsia, Ying Chai Ling, Jiang Ling, Xia Ling Ling and Ru Xiu Ling joining the army. Their teachers at the academy were big names like Tang Lan Hua, Gui Ya Lei, Ivy Ling Po, etc. Loved this movie. You should get hold of the DVD.

- Jiang Ling - again, Jiang Ling had a few successes in the box office. Her first hit was "Wo De Xiao Mei" made famous by the song, which had a film title called Ran Shao Ling Dian Chi Du, costarring Kenny and Lan Yi Li. She did a few other countryside movies with Li Dao Hong and with Kenny (He Pan Ching Cao ching - which was a heartwarming movie and one of her last). She only teamed up with Lin Ching Hsia in Zhong Guo Nu Bing. Jiang Ling subsequently stepped out of the limelight after her marriage. I understand she gives music tuition now.

- Wang Chuan Ru - I already mentioned her in my earlier email.

- Liu Lan Xi - not really a leading actress, as she had not starred in a movie by herself where she could attract the audience to the box office. She teamed up with Ru Xiu Ling in Chue Shang Xin To and Ju Shan Liang Yi Yi. No major unforgettable movie moments from her. She released some albums, but had always been somewhat blue and black but not purple.

- Wu Guan Chen - not really a leading lady, worked with Ru Xiu Ling in one of last Qiong Yao movies "Wen Xie Yang" and played a big part with Alan Tam in "Jia Ru Wo Shi Jen De" but was never a mega star. She is also quite wooden in her performance.

- Chu Hai Ling - a cute looking girl, played little girl parts. She teamed up with Lin Ching Hsia in "Jin Chan Hua" - also starring Chin Han and Ma Yung Ling. Good movie, and her performance was refreshing. She did not land any mega parts after that though. She did produce a few country songs album.

- Xie Ling Ling - she actually belongs to the earlier generation. She started her career as a child star in the 60s opposite Tang Pao Yun and Wang mo Cho. She came back in the 70s and tried a few times to play leading actress roles but not much success. Her more memorable roles are in movies like "Yue Meng Long Niao Meng Long" or Misty Moon with Lin ching Hsia and Chin Han. She also teamed up with lin and Chin Han in "Yen Er Jai Ling Shao". She teamed up with Lin Feng Chiao in "Wang You Cao" and "Jai Xing". She did not work with Chen Chen as far as I can recall. She took on solo roles as leading actress in "Wu Mang Mang" with Liu Shang Qian which was a flop, and with Chin Han in "Xi Yang Shan Wai Shan" which did not do well in the box office but featured lovely songs from Ji Pao Ru.

think I have written too much. but hope that I have given you a flavour of the A- and B grade actresses in the 70s.

3 Latest releases-Ching Hsia

by Melody

Thanks to a fan of this forum, I manage to get hold of 3 movies that I have been longing for a long long time. There are:- yun piaw piaw, misty drizzle and moon river. All 3 stars Brigitte Lin and Ge Ming Lun and directed by Liu Jia Chang.I must say that all these 3 movies have got great songs and so many of them, esp, Yun Piaw piaw, it is almost like a musical, a good musical show with all familiar songs that u can sing along with. Most of the songs are surprisingly sung by Jenny Tseng. The opening song for the movie, Misty Drizzle is sung by Jiang Lei but into the movie, the song is actually sung by Jenny. So may I conclude that the original singer to the song Misty Drizzle is Jenny, or is it Jiang Lei. As for Moon River, the singer to the movie is actually Jenny and not Tracy Huang. In the show, you get to see a very young and charming Jenny singing this song in a night club. And in the movie Misty Drizzle, u get to see a glimpse Yiu yar.A adolescent Brigitte is still a beauty and she acted very well-very natural. Watching the 3 shows now, I find Ge ming Lun actually looks quite good although I do not share the same feel way back then. I reckon the 3 shows are made abt the same time or maybe even the same year. The other leading lady in the show, jia zhen, is also quite a beauty although I must say her acting is very stiff. Her figure is almost that of Brigitte, tall and lanky. And the bonus of purchasing the movies- it all comes with a dvd featuring movie soundtracks. Grab it now. And to Hoker, thanks for the release of such classics. And to the lady who help me to purchase the movies, now and before, a very big thank you to u for always being so helpful.

Re: 3 Latest releases-Ching Hsia

by Bill

Hi Melody
good to hear from you.

Yes, Yun Piao Piao, Yun Her and Yen Yu were made around the same time. Yun Her was produced first but Yun Piao Piao was first released and became a big hit which then paved the way for Yun Her to enjoy relatively good success in the box office. Yen Yu was released as a Chinese New Year block buster and at that time, was considered a "Da Dui To" or movie with a big mega cast. The film did quite well at the box office.

All the songs were written by Liu Jia Chang. My understanding was that originally Yun Her was supposed to be sang by Jenny but due to some copyright and legal issue, they could not produce songs by Jenny under Kolin label. That was why Yun Her was released as a soundtrack under Kolin label by new singer at that time, Tracy Huang Ying Ying. That spearheaded Huang's career. I believe it is till today a sore point with Jenny, because her version of the song was used in the movie but the success went to Tracy.

Yen Yu was again a similar issue. The songs were supposed to be produced under Kolin label but Jenny had her contract with Hai Shan label, so Jiang Lei became the original singer to release this soundtrack, which I must say sounded much much better than Jenny. Jiang Lei has got the right voice for this song. Liu Jia Chang's version of Yen Yu was fantastic. You should not miss the other 2 songs written for the movie: Kwai Le Jai Mei Yi Tian and Huan Shiao.

Yun Piao Piao is of course a trademark soundtrack for Jenny - and the song that propelled her to fame is the famous song "Tian Chen Huo Puo you mei li", but the soundtrack also featured other lovely songs. My personal favorites are "Bu Shi Meng" and "Shi Lei Hai shi Yu".

Enjoy the movies and songs. I will be getting my copies soon. Thanks to our dear friend.

Ju San Liang Yi YI (Errant Love)

by

i also think that JSLYY (Errant Love) is the best movie of Shirly Lu. i think Shirly and Kenny Bee were perfect onscreen couples. they had that more youthful modern feel to them that matched (even tho i think Kenny Bee was older). the music was perfect and i love the story line. Nancy Liu (Liu Lan Xil) was also really good as the spoiled niece. i like Nancy Liu even tho she was the bad character. neways i was in love with Shirly Lu and Kenny Bee when i was young and saw JSLYY for the first time.

Shirly Lu has also been in two other 70s/80s taiwanes romance movies that i know of.

A Song I Heard on FM97.2

by Cindee

Hi All,

Would really like to know the original singer & title of a song I heard on S'pore radio FM97.2 on 4/5/08 (Sun) at about 8.30pm.

It goes like this....´ºÌìÀïÇå·çϸÓê(chun tian li qing feng xi yu)£¬ÇïÌìÀïÂäÒ¶ÂúµØ(qiu tian li luo ye man di)¡£×ÝÈ»ÊÇ´ºÈ¥ÇïÀ´(zong ran shi chun qu qiu lai)£¬±ä²»ÁËÎÒµÄÐÄÒâ(bian bu le wo de xin yi)¡£¸æËßËûÎÒÔÚÕâÀï(gao su ta wo zai zhe li)£¬»Øζ×ÅÍùÈÕÇéÒâ(hui wei zhe wang ri qing yi)£¬¸æËßËûΪÎÒÕäϧ(gao su ta wei wo zhen xi)£¬ÎÒÇéÉîÈçÍùÎô(wo qing shen ru wang xi)¡£

I was on the road when this song was played. Funny how the lyrics just flowed though I must have heard this decades ago. I guess you all know what I meant.

Appreciate your reply,

Compilation of songs by Yang Ya Hui

by Bill

Hi
hope you remember this singer Yang Ya Hui, the sister of Yang Xiao Ping. She was brought to the music scene by her sister. Her first album was jointly with Yang Xiao Ping and the songs in the album were mostly composed by Liu Jia Chang, which included the song "Tian Zhi Ya Hai Zhi Jiao".

Yang Ya Hui has performed songs for a few movies:
- Coffee, Wine and Lemon Juice
- Love Corridor
- Love Thunder Wind and Rain
- Ping Dian (she also has the key starring role in this movie)

Ping Dian was probably her last album. The movie starred veteran Tang Pao Yun, Ma Yung Ling, Xi Chiang (the brother of Lin Ching Hsia in Autumn song).

This compilation is currently being prepared and will be released by Hai Shan soon. So, look out for it. It's definitely worth collecting.

Top Billing

by Anonymous

I read the article regarding a 1974 Blockbuster Hit. The two lead actors were given credit/ top billing in terms of arrangement of cast name in the poster of Movie " The Towering Inferno".

I started to think about that in our chinese movies. In Shaw Brothers Movie Posters, quite often they try to arrange the names on the left hand side and right hand side of the movie poster so that each of them appeared to be first whether you read from the left hand side of the poster or right hand side of the poster. In the Shaw Brothers Movie, quite often the actor/ actress names were not dispayed in the beginning part of the movie but were displayed one by one at the moment when the actor/ actress first appeared in the movie.

As for Taiwan Movies, I don't find any special arrangement of cast names except for Yu Shi Qi Feng Shi. This movie had special arrangement of the names of six actors/ actresses being displayed at the beggining part of the movie.

Forgotten movie theme songs of 70s Part 6

by Bill

Hi

I wonder if I am only writing this for myself. Maybe it is a way to help me remember those movies and songs of the 70s. Appreciate fans like Thomas who has openly shared his thoughts and experience. Maybe the movies and songs I speak about at this forum are not the usual big names and blockbusters of the 70s. Nevertheless, I feel they are worth mentioning because collectively they did make up our memories of the 70s taiwanese movies.

What shall I talk about today? Over the weekend, I was arranging my recording of the old movie songs in my MP3 player. The following were some of the movie songs that reminded me of that era we so long to hold on to:

Zho bu wan de lu (Never ending road) - This soundtrack was actually ahead of its time and was very well made. The songs were all written by the then upcoming but not so famous Luo Ta You. There were at least 4 songs written for the movie, starring Chen Chiong Mei, Hu Ying Meng and Ma Yung Ling. Chen Chiong Mei also sang the songs for the movie and she played the role of a singer in this film. Film storyline was good but despite Hu and Ma in the film, Chen did not draw the audience to the cinema. Film and soundtrack did not do well at that time. Chen actually disappeared from the movie scene after this movie, which she also co-produced. She was popular as a child star in the 60s but the 70s was just not for her anymore. What a pity. Throughout the 70s, we have seen singers who have tried to stick a foot in the movie industry, some with success but many failed.
Jenny Tseng acted in movies like "Come Rain Come Shine" with Charlie Chin, Shi Feng, "Feng Yeh Qing" with Lin Ching Hsia and Alan Tang, and a few Shaw brother movies with Fu Sheng and played opposite Samuel Hui in "Chuen Jia Fu". She never made it big in the movies. Singing was still her biggest strength.
With more success is Feng Fei Fei: "Feng Er Ti Ta Chai" and "Jiu Shi Liu Liu de Ta" with Kenny Bee - both were great box office hits during the Chinese New Year season. She did epic movies like "Phoenix Tears" with Wang Yu and "Chun Han" with Liang Xiu Sheng - both did not do too well in the box office. She appeared in several Liu Jia Chang movies as herself: Wen Ruan Jai Qiu Tian, Ming Tian Er Shi Sui. Ying Hsia whom I spoke about last time, did quite well as an actress.
Shen Yen, whose most popular song "Ta Lang" did not too badly as an actress: "Qiao Lu Chai Tie Fei Ya Fei" and "Peng Peng Yi Chuan Xin" with Kenny did quite well in the box office. She also teamed up with Tien Niu in a golden horse award movie "Girls school" where she played lover to Tien Niu. This was one of the new age movies at the end of the love story era. Interestingly, Liu Jia Chang also groomed Shen Yen and wrote songs for her in the movie "Peng Peng Yi Chuan Xin" and his own movie "Han Jiang Qiu Sui" starring Chen Chen. Lucky for Shen Yen came out at the time when the movie industry was looking for new faces and there was this trend where leading actresses also could sing. Timing and luck were the key factors.
Another of such an example is Jiang Ling. Jiang Ling's biggest hit was "Wo De Xiao Mei" which was popular all over Asia. She costarred Kenny in this movie and subsequently teamed up with Kenny again in "He Pan Ching Cao Ching" - a heartwarming story about countryside love and lifestyle - VCD is on sale - you should get that. Jiang Ling then did some movie with Li Dao Hung in "Gui Ren" which featured lovely songs. One interesting role she took on was "Chinese lady soldiers" which gave her a chance to work with Lin Ching Hsia, Tang Lan Hua, Gui Ya Lei, Ying Chai Ling, Xia Ling Ling. A megacast and a Chinese New Year blockbuster hit. One thing interesting is that many of these new starlets were teamed up with Kenny - he was probably the next biggest Taiwanese love story lead actor after chin han, alan tang and charlie chin. His co-stars included Ying Chai Ling, Shen Yen, Jiang Ling, Ying Hsia, Ru Xiu Ling, Feng Fei Fei - all did not too badly in the box office. He also had a chance to work with Lin Feng Chiao but strangely enough, not Lin Ching Hsia and Chen Chen.

Another movie song which people may have forgotten is "Memory of love" which is the theme song from the movie "Didi's diary". This movie won Tien Niu and Gui Ya Lei awards at the Golden Horse Award. There were 3 songs written for this movie by Tony Oong Ching Xi, who is an excellent composer in the 70s. This movie is one of the best movies I watched in the 70s, because of its realism, heartwarming story and purity. The songs in the movie were performed by the fabulous Cui Tai Ching. She is the disciple of Tony who wrote many movie songs for her including "Feng Ling Feng Ling", "Jian Jian Feng", "Lang Hua", "Last night misty rain", "Pen Fang Ching Chun Pen Fang Qing", "Wild pigeon", "Pai Hua Piao Shue Hua Piao". She was also the favorite singer for many Li Hsing directed movies: Lang Hua, Feng Ling Feng Ling, Pai Hua Piao Shue Hua Piao. She has a distinct voice that no one can imitate. I am glad I have collected her songs over the years. Back to movie Didi's diary, it featured Tien Niu and Chin Han for the first time which came across as refreshing. They subsequently teamed up again in "Xiao Yu Sze Sze" which did not do too well in the box office. At that time, the audience seemed to like the Tien Niu-Liu Wen Zhen combination. Even with Charlie Chin, it was not a successful pairing.

I think I spoke enough for today. Share your views too.

Never Ending Road

by Thomas

When we were in Brunei having our training, we sang this song 'Never Ending Road' because the roads are damned super long and meandering. Hokkien said Cry Without Tears, ha ha. I have watched those movies by Feng Fei Fei and Kenny B. My children knew about my hobby and teased me. Sometimes, they sang along like Ni Na Hao Leng De Xiao Shou. Ha ha.

Re: Never Ending Road

That is nice, Thomas.
Part of history lessons for our youngsters today.
Forgot to add that Chin Han did act opposite Tien Niu before Didi's diary: Shang Sisters and Jai Sui Yi Fang (unforgettable character) but Chin Han was lover to Lin Feng Chiao and Lin Ching hsia in both films. Didi's diary was the first time they partnered as a loving couple.

Thank you for the great walk down memory lane

by Tris

Hi
I enjoy reading your "Forgotten movie theme songs of 70s" especially
Part 5 and 6. It brought back nice memory of being a student "craving and saving hard" to go for those nice, simple and romantic movies during the 70s.

I was wondering since you share stars, happenings and movies of that era,
why not start a blog with pictures, newspaper cuttings from newspaper and magazines etc (hope you have collections of them) and share it with us in your personalised blog. Of course, you may want to continue to share your thoughts and opinions in this forum, however it would be nice to see your blogs complete with pictures since you wrote so well about the subject.
Anyway, do keep it up!
Cheers

Shenyan Movies

by moonriver

thanks for sharing with us ..I find the information are very organised , informative...
I especially like the part on Shen yan as I like her music but there is no way I can find more about her..now I had a better understanding..

Why was Kenny Bee the common leading actor to the new female actresses then ? Was it because he can sing ? How about actor Liu Wen zheng ?

Which of Shenyan movie will you recommend ? What is the story about ? I like both songs, they are so lively & cute..I guess both movies should light-hearted right.

-Peng Peng Yi Chuan Xin or
-Qiao Ru Cai Tie Fei Fei

are any of these two movies available online?

Re: Shenyan Movies

by Bill

Hi

Acting to Liu Wen Zhen has always been like a hobby. His main interest was to sing. So, from his first movie in Men Li Men Wai, he kind of became a leading man in the movies, pairing with Lin Ching Hsia, Tien Niu, Sylvia Zhang, Lin Feng Chiao - so he had worked with everyone of them. Liu got tired of acting after a few years - believe one of his last movies would be Yun Chieh Liu Chu, Chue Shang Xin To and Ran Shao Pa Huo Niao - all Qiong Yao movies. He is now retired in the US.

Kenny however was more available and was focusing on entering big into the Taiwanese film industry. His success with Xiao Chen Gu Shi and Morning Taipei established his position in the Taiwanese film industry. For him, movie was his career and he used to sing some songs in the movies he acted, but his mainstream was in movies making. Kenny is still active in the movie industry and tried to launch his singing career again. In terms of voice quality, Liu is much more superior compared to Kenny.

Now your question about Shen Yen's movies. Both Peng Peng Yi Chuan Xin and Ciao Ru Chai Teer are along the same love comedy line. She did some Xiang tu or countryside kind of movies featuring famous tracks like Jai Jer Li and Hai zhi Yen. Nu Ji Shue Shiao was a serious movie about 2 girls' relationship in the school. So far, only Ciao ru cai Teer fei fei fei and another movie Hua Fei Hua wu Chun Man Chen (costar Jiang Ho Ren) have been released. You can find that online with Hoker label.

Enjoy the movies and the memories...

Forgotten movie theme songs of 70s Part 5

by Bill

Hi
I was just thinking of my childhood and school days when I used to watch 1-2 movies per week. At that time, I was also collecting alot of the movie soundtracks from different places in Singapore. Many of the taiwanese movies were shown under different distributors: Guang Yi, Rong Hua, Shaw bros etc. Remembered Hollywood, Jing Tu and Jin Hua were under Guang Yi, cinemas like Guang Ming, Kwai Lerk were under Rong Hua and then another group had cinemas Jin Chen, Galaxy etc, and then Cathay group had cinemas like Odeon Katong, Da Hua. Those were great days. Wouldn't it be nice to go back for 1 day into the 70s to enjoy that cinematic experience. I would probably spend the 24 hrs hopping from cinema to cinema. Wouldn't that be fun.

A few other movies and songs come to mind at this moment:
Hua Fei Hua - this theme song is fast moving and the movie starred Hu Ying Meng and Chin Han. Unusual combination. We have seen the 2 stars team up in Chen Chen de Ai, Wo Shi Yi Pian Yun. Not a bad combi but audience did not seem to like that. Hu also got teamed up with Charlie Chin in Jia Chi Jia Chi (one of those 3 boys 3 girls new year movie), Ren Jai Tian Ya, also combi wasn't that successful. Somehow she teamed up with Gu Ming Lun rather well in Liu Jia Chang's movies. Hu is a real beauty but her roles had been restrictive and she did not get a chance to expand her horizon very much. Ok, Hua Fei Hua had 3 other tracks, great songs by Tony Oong Ching Xi and performed by Zho Juen Juen. It's on sale in the shops, so get hold of this soundtrack.

Tien Yuan - this is a Liu Jia Chang movie, starring Agnes Chan, Xu Kang Tai, Liu Jia Chang and Liu Ching Yu. Movie was specially written for Agnes. Liu also wrote many songs for Agnes to sing in this movie: You Ni You Wo, Xing Fu Jai Jin Chao, Tien Yuan, Ai Ren Bu Jian Liao. Liu even sang the title song Tien Yuan which was much better. This was Agnes 2nd attempt in Taiwanese love story movie. Her first was the movie adaptation of Yen fei xiang, which had many popular songs by Tony Oong Ching Xi. Yen Fei Xiang was a success, which got Agnes signed up for 2 other taiwanese movies: Tian Yuan and Wo Jai Lian Ai or I am in love. The movie songs were all performed by Agnes and the movies featured many great songs. But Agnes squeaky voice and not so accurate mandarin pronounciation did not get her very far. The 2 movies were a flop in the cinemas, Agnes lost her charm, decided to focus on the Japanese music industry and finally got married and settled there. She did well in Japan.

Qiu Shi Pian Pian - this is one of the loveliest songs written by Liu Jia Chang, performed by Ying Hsia, Chen Chen's sister. The songs in the movie were specially written to promote ying hsia, and indeed it spearheaded Ying Hsia's career. She then release more soundtracks like Sunset in Beijing city and subsequently sang and starred in the movies as leading actress: Ni Na Hao Len De Xiao Sho (songs by Gu Yue), Clouds know who you are, Second chances, Flower in the mud, Chun Jie de Xiao Pai He. She paired up with new age leading actors like Kenny Bee, Jiang Ho Ren, Xiao Fei, Zho Shao Tung, etc. Her most popular and best seller movie was still Your cold cold hands with Kenny Bee. Ying Hsia produced a few other albums which did not sell too well and she decided to retire and became active in the christian community. Back to Qiu Shi Pian Pian - the movie starred Chen Chen, Ke Chun Hsiong and Hu Ying Meng - great movie sad story and beautiful songs - there were 3 songs written for this movie. It was also the best selling movie of Liu Jia Chang starred by Chen Chen. Should get hold of the movie once it is released.

Hai Tian Yi Ser - this was the theme song from the movie starring Lin Ching Hsia and Alan Tang. It was one of the series of movies Alan made with Lin Ching Hsia: Run Lover Run, Feng Yeh Qing, Naughty lady doctor, Love Kung Fu, You Lan Jai Yu Chong (Orchid in the rain). Lin and Alan were a great team together and the movies sold rather well in the cinema. There were 2 songs written for Hai Tian Yi Ser, the other slower number was Chen Chen Xiang Sze, both performed by Wu Xiu Chu, written by Ruo Ming Dao. Movie has not been released yet. But I remembered the movie was charming, simple story but beautifully made, though not as good as Run Lover Run or Feng Yeh Qing. Still worth catching. At that time, Alan made several movies in parallel, this movie was made at the same time as Morning Date starring Joan Lin.

hope you enjoyed today's walk down memory lane. let me know what you think.

Rain In September

by Thomas

I watched Rain in September and Hai Tian Yi Se before.

For me, it was a memorable experience watching Rain in September. First time ever, I witnessed Chen Chen appearing live on stage at the then Odeon cinema next to Bras Basah complex, Singapore. The whole cinema was packed. Chen Chen and Liu Jia Chang appeared before the film was screened at 9.30 pm. Forget about the storyline, the purpose was to see Chen Chen, once in my lifetime when she was so adorable and beautiful. The song and melody were so soothing, and Chen Chen's sister, Ying Xia sang very well.

Watched Hai Tian Yi Se at the then Paramount cinema in Hougang area. The cinema always screened two movies for the price of one. For a poor student like me, would not waste such golden opportunity. I think this movie was quite dull.

Forgotten movie theme songs of 70s Part 4

by Bill

Hi
just thought of a few other movie love songs, which were wonderfully written. some of these songs were successful in the charts, some were not. Some of the movies became more popular because of a particular song written for the movie, and that drew the audience to the box office.

Hua Ruo Sui Liu Hong - This is the title theme song for the movie of the same name. Movie was released under Shaw brothers back then, starring Zhou Dan Wei and Charlie Chin. This movie was made in parallel with "Qing Do Chu Kai" which also starred Zhou and Charlie together with tien Niu. The songs in the movie Hua Ruo Sui Liu Hong were well written. It was one of those movies which had 2 "Ju Ti Qu" - Hua Ruo Sui Liu Hong 1 and Hua Ruo sui lui hong 2, one being a faster track while the other was slower. Songs were written by Ruo Ming Dao and performed by Tien Lu Lu. Songs were quite popular then but the movie did not do well. Somehow the audience back in the 70s found it difficult to see Charlie pairing with any other stars other than chen chen, lin ching hsia or joan lin.

Woon Xi Yang - this is the theme song from the movie called "Wan Jian Xin Wen" or Evening News. It was made in the early 80s and marked the end of the taiwanese love story movies era. The movie did not do well. I can't remember the entire story but I knew it was about Wu Hui Zhong and Charlie Chin playing TV reporters and how they competed with each other and their love story. It also starred veteran great actress Gui Ya Lei. There were 2 songs written for this movie by Gu Yue and sang by Pan An Pang. The other cute song was called "Ni Jiao Se Mo Ming Je", or what is your name?

Wu Ching Huang Di You Qing Tian - this is the theme song and also name of the movie starring Lin Ching Hsia and Chin Han. If you get a chance to watch this movie, do so. It has a great story line and was filmed in the US. This movie was almost one of the last of Ching Hsia-Chin Han movie era. It was made probably about the same time as "Qing Peng", directed by Chin Han which was a flop. Anyway back to this Wu Ching Huang Ti movie. The title track was written by Tony Oong Ching Xi and performed by the late Teresa Teng, whose voice was extremely suited for this movie. The lyrics were wonderfully written: Chun Qu Chun You Lai, Hua Xie Hua You Kai, Li Ching Feng Her Yu, Wo Liang Geng Xiang Ai.The movie did rather well in the box office. Like I said, one of the best films at that time.

Xi Yang Shan Wai Shan - theme song from movie of same name. Written by Gu Yue and performed by child star Ji Pao Ru. Movie starred Chin Han and Xie Ling Ling. Movie did not do well because again the audience could not accept Chin Han pairing with Xie Ling Ling. There was not much chemistry between the 2 stars. Xie had tried to breakthrough as a leading actress but somehow not much success. Xie was famous for her child star roles in Wan Jun Piao Mei etc in the late 50s but she did not have much luck in female leading characters. Another failed attempt was with Liu Shang Jian in Wu Mang Mang. She was more successful playing supporting roles to Lin Ching Hsia (Misty moon, Yen Er Jai Ling Shao), to Lin Feng Chiao (Jai Xing, Wang You Cao). She later married one of the HK millionaires, but is now divorced.

Ok, that's all for today. will write again if you enjoy reading it. let me know.

Thanks Bill for sharing again. I missed these 4 shows when they were screened in Singapore because there were just too many such shows to pick at that time. Also constraint by limited spending power as a young boy. Ha ha.

Forgotten movie theme songs of 70s Part 3

by Bill

Hi

I just heard a couple of other movie theme songs when I was driving today. I have compiled some movie songs into a CD and just realised that there are still so many songs which I can talk about. For today, let's dwell on a few of these forgotten movie songs:

Chun Tian Chun Tian (Spring Spring) - This is the title track of the movie with the same name, starring Joan Lin, Alan Tam, Gui Ya Lei and Jiang Ming. The movie songs were all written by Tony Oong Ching Xi and performed by Pan An Pang. Pan also appeared as a singer for a short while in this movie. The movie title got changed into "Hua Pan Wu Chun Feng". I loved this song the first time I heard it, beautiful lyrics and easy to hum melody. Movie did not do that well but songs were great. Frankly I never did like Alan Tam in these 70s taiwanese movies. Felt that he is not masculine enough compared to Charlie, Chin Han or Alan Tang. Even Kenny Bee was better.

Wo De Chu Nian (My first love) - This was the title track of the movie starring Liu Wen Zhen paired with Zhang Ying Chen (who appeared in Didi's diary as the girl student who died in a car explosion). Also starring Gui Ya Lei, Huang Man, Li Dao Hung and Xia Ling Ling. Great cast, great story, heart warming plot. I loved the movie the first time it was released. Not sure if you remember the 3 lovely songs in this movie performed by Liu Wen Zhen: Besides Wo De Chu Nian, the other 2 lovely songs are: Yi Ge Wo Xi Huan de Nu Hai (The girl i love) and Hey Hey (which is a fast and lively track Liu sang when he interrupted Zhang's party. This was probably the only movie Zhang played a lead female role because in most other movies, she has always supported Tien Niu, Joan Lin or Lin Ching Hsia or Chen Chen. Zhang is cute and bubbly and I feel is a good actress. This film did not too badly. But somehow she was not that lucky in movie industry - too much strong competition.

Wen Ruan Jai Qiu Tian (Warmth in autumn) - This was a Chinese New Year blockbuster with a mega cast: Liu Wen zhen, Sylvia Zhang, Hu Ying Meng, Gu Ming Lun, Liu Ching Yu and Xu Kang Tai. All Liu Jia Chang's disciples. Movie is very Liu Jia Chang's style. Directed by Li Jiu So, songs by Liu Jia Chang, performed by Feng Fei Fei and Liu Wen Zhen. In fact, Feng also appeared in this movie as a singer. Storyline was alright. about sacrifices big brother Gu makes for his siblings. There were 3 songs written for this movie.

Ning Jing Hai (Quiet sea) - This movie starred Tien Niu and Hu Ying Meng and both stars were in love with the same man Ma Yung Ling. I found the movie well-written, story was credible, songs written by Ruo Ming Dao and sang by Sarah Chen Su Hua were lovely. There were 3 songs in the movie, 2 slow numbers and one fast track. I love the 2 slow numbers about Ning Jing Hai. Movie did not do that well in the box office. Pity. tien Niu and Hu performed extremely well with lots of feelings and pain in character. Unfortunately, they were not mega stars to compete with Lin Ching Hsia and Joan Lin at that time. Believe it was released at the same time as Lin Ching Hsia's Cai Xia Man Tien and Joan Lin's Wang Yang Jong De Yi Tiao Chuan. Movie also starred Chin Meng, who played Ma's sister but committed suicide in the movie. I am not sure if you remember Chin Meng, who played in many ghost story movies in the 70s which were extrememly popular. Try to watch this movie if you can. you won't regret it.

enjoy the walk with me.

Forgotten movie theme songs of 70s Part 2

by Bill

Hi

felt like writing something today. Again my focus will be on movie theme songs of the 70s movies, which were beautifully written and some even popular but the films have mixed reviews in the box office.

Xin You Dian Dian Cho - song was written by Gu Yue for Jenny Tseng. Great songs and also cha qu "Xin Fu De Wei Xiao" was beautifully written. Movie starred Tien Ni and Hu Chin opposite Chang Chong. This was not the first love story movie by Tien Ni. Back in the late 60s and early 70s, Tien Ni starred in several tearjerkers like Wo Xin Sui Liao and Xin Suan Suan which did well in the box office. She also did several love story comedies like "Which mother hen does not lay eggs" with Yue Yang, which was also a hit. But her attempt in the early 70s in this Xin You Dian Dian Cho somehow did not win the hearts of the audience and did badly in the box office. I remembered watching the movie and found the story quite interesting. At that time, the audience was interested in new faces like chen chen and later lin ching hsia. Tien Ni realised that she had to change her career path. It was after the failure of this movie as well as another movie "Chao Hoon" with Alan Tang and Tien Niu, that she decided to join Shaw brothers. From then on, her roles in movies got transformed by Li Han Hsiang into sex symbol roles like Li Ping Er in "Jin Ping Xuang Yen" which was a big box office hit in the 70s. She never turned back to love story movies again.

Jui Yi - there were 3 lovely movie songs written by Ruo Ming Dao for You Ya in this movie. Songs were great, movie story line was not bad but it failed in the box office. The movie starred Judy Oong (who played a blind girl) opposite a new actor Lin Guang Chen, who acted in a couple of other movies and then subsequently disappeared from the movie scene. This movie also starred the Shaw brothers sex symbol Hu Chin. Hu Chin over the years attempted to play love story movie roles like in Xin You Dian Dian Cho (opposite Chang Chong whom she also married at that time), Yen Yu (opposite Charlie Chin and Lin Ching Hsia), Xue Hua Pian Pian (opposite Charlie Chin and Tang Lan Hua), but somehow the audience could not accept her in such goodie characters. Even Liu Jia Chang tried to get her to star in his love story movies but did not work. She is a good actress but somehow the audience preferred her in her roles in "Feng Yue" movies under Li Han Hsiang. She ultimately gave in to fate and went down this route of sex symbol.

Mo Dan Lei - there were 5 lovely songs written by Tony Oong Ching Xi for Jenny Tseng. The most popular of the songs that made it to the charts was "Chun Feng Chui De Sui Piao Piao" which was lively and had alot of characteristic. The movie "Mo Dan Lei" is actually very well made and had a good story line about 2 generations of women played by Wang Ping and shaw brothers kung fu actress Sze Szu as her daughter. Movie was filmed mostly in Thailand. At that time, the movie was a big hit in Thailand and did not too badly in Singapore box office but less so in HK and Taiwan. Wang Ping is a good actress but she still could not compete with chen chen or Ling ching hsia at that time. Wang Ping did a few other love story movies like "Yi Jia Ren" for Liu Jia Chang starring opposite Tang Pao Yun, Judy Ong and Tang Lan Hua. She then acted in tearjerkers like "Ju Fu", comedies like "Yun Fei He Chu", "Bi Yun Da Chuen" but all did badly in the box office. she ultimately starred in some kung fu movies under Shaw brothers which were not big hits. Her breakthrough came when she won her first Golden Horse award for the movie "Wu Soong" in which she played the sexy Pan Jing Lian under the direction of Li Han Hsiang. She then disappeared from the movie industry.

hope you enjoyed today's walk down memory land. let me hear your views and whether you found the article interesting.

70s

by Thomas

Hi Bill, welcome back. Thanks for igniting the discussion again.
I was in Taipei last Dec and bought some 10 DVDs each ranging from about S$4.50 to S$9. I enjoyed watching them in the evening, one at a time.

Forgotten movie theme songs of 70s

by Bill

Hi
I was writing this halfway when I pressed a wrong key and everything was lost. So I am retyping again.

I was just listening to some 70s movie songs which were not that popular but nevertheless wonderful songs. Thot I should dedicate some time to remembering these songs. Every 70s movie song has a certain place in our memories - it remind us the place we have been, the people we were with at that time - these are fond memories we should not let go of.

I thought I will list down some of these movie title tracks written for movies of the 70s - some popular but some less so. Enjoy this trip down memory lane.

Mi mi Xiang Sze - theme song of movie "Mi Mi Xiang Sze Ling" written by Ruo Ming Dao and performed by Chen Ying Jie. Movie starred Shaw actress Li Ching with Liang Xiu Sheng. It was Li Ching's attempt to break into the Taiwanese movie industry. The movie was well made, had good storyline and great songs - but unfortunately was a flop in the box office. Somehow the audience could not accept Li Ching, who had started to lose her popularity then. Li Ching also made another war movie "Jian Chiao Ying Lei Chuan" with Liang Xiu Sheng and Hu Ying Meng which did slightly better in the box office.

Juo Je Yu Xiao Xiao (Last night misty rain) - title track written by Tony Oong Ching Xi for Cui Tai Ching. lovely soundtrack and movie starred Lin Feng Chiao and Charlie Chin - it was one of the series of Charlie-Joan movies at that time which were made one after another or in parallel, such as Ching Sheng Ai Geng Sheng, You Shi Huang Hoon. This movie also marked the beginning of Lin Feng Chiao taking on more challenging roles like "Tian Liang Hao Ge Qiu", "You Chian Choon Tian", "Wo Ta Lang Er Lai".

Wai Yu (An affair) - great title track written by Tony Oong for jenny for movie of same name. It was Ke Chun Hsiong's attempt in movie making, he produced and directed movie specially for his then-girl friend Miao Ke Xiu. I remembered watching this movie and found it not too bad. But the audience then boycotted the movie because of Ke-Miao's affair which hit the headlines then. What an irony!

Dang Wo Ren Shi Ni (when i met you) - title track written by Liu Jia Chang for Feng Fei Fei. lovely melody and lyrics. It was for the movie "Bi Yun Da Chuen" produced by Shaw brothers kung fu swordsman Wang Yu, costarring Wang Ping and Chen Hao. It was Wang's attempt to go into Taiwanese "wen yi pian" but somehow the audience could not accept Wang Yu in a non-fighting role, and the film did badly in the box office. Another movie by Wang Yu in taiwanese love story which did not too bad was "So Chu Qing Sheng" costarring Charlie Chin and Tien Niu where Wang played a boxer. Movie did well mainly because of Charlie and Tien Niu at that time. Wang then went back to his kung fu roles.

Chun Tian Li De Qiu Tian - song written by Gu Yue for Yang Xiao Ping. Song is all time best of Yang Xiao Ping - it was tailored made for her voice and singing style. Movie starred Chin Han and Ting Pei and also a newby Jiang Xin Yi, who also starred in Wo Ai Sha Gua and Jian Jian Feng but did not make it big in the industry. Anyway, this love story Chun Tian Li De Qiu Tian did not do well in the box office mainly because the audience did not like the combination of Chin Han with a sex symbol Ting Pei in a love story. That was their last attempt to play leading male and female actors in a taiwanese love story. Funnily, Chin Han and Ting Pei reunited again in another movie 10 yrs later directed by Liu Jia Chang known as "Feng Sui Er Si Nian".

That's all for today. If you like the style of the above column, let me know and I will write a second episode of "unforgotten movie theme songs". Great to hear what you think.

Hey Bill,
So nice reading your write up. I am so happy to read said column.
Its really a pleasure and niceness to read your write up. So heavenly
to feel the return of time. Those movies you mentioned are beautiful
movies for sure and their music. Unfortunately, we were not able to watch
them even during our childhood time. We hope in the future we will be
able to watch them through vcds and dvds. Are these movies already
available in videos. Where can we buy them? I am in Cotabato City,
Philippines. I hope they are also available in Manila Philippines. Thanks
a lot Bill for reminding us, the beauty of Chinese old movies. They
will always live in our life. Thanks again for sharing to us your great
knowledge and love for the classics of Taiwan cinema.

Hi Nelson
am glad you enjoyed the column and found the articles useful.
many of the movies and songs are retained in my own memory. I am from singapore but am living overseas. I have listened to these songs for many years and treasure them a lot. I think the movies I have are the ones most people in this forum would have gotten hold of in singapore, hk or taiwan. Again, there are still so many taiwanese movies which have not been released on vcd or dvd till today. I hope that the distributors will do so one day. If you are in Singapore, there are a few places you can look for these old 70s movies songs - one in the basement of Raffles Place MRT and another shop in Beach Road Shaw Centre. good luck.

Hi Bill,

I am very elated that you replied. You are such a great person to share to us
your knowledge about Taiwan cinema and music. When I was very young, as in elementary
yet, my father used to bring me along when he watched Chinese movies. The movie stars
are mostly from Shaw bros. I came to appreciate Chinese movies in that young age. Later, I was able to watch also the movies of Chen Chen and Tang Pao Yin. They were
really so beautiful. When I was already in my college, I remember they were still
reigning in the box office, beauties like Lin Ching Hsia and Joan Lin take turns in
bringing joy to the Chinese People of Asia I believe. Music so melodious that I kept
on expecting for new ones to come. I remember those songs like Ai teh siao U. Hai O,
songs by Liu won chen, Pan an Pang, Yin Hsia, Fung Fei Fei and Chen Ni. Those are
so beautiful and the era of Taiwan Music. Lately, I cant really appreciate the Taiwan
songs except for those sentimental ones. I hope that one day, i can go to Hongkong and
Singapore to find these old movies and songs. Because up to now, i linger on the
movies that i saw when i was younger. I am very happy that you are here to share
to us your knowledge and passion for Taiwan Movie Classics and Songs. We are indeed
very lucky to be able to pass by here and read your columns. Indeed its memory down
the lane. I was able to buy a few years ago some old Taiwan movies in vcd in Ongpin
Manila. However, may be due to limited demands. These exclusive shops have stopped
to sell these vcds and opted to sell the for the mass type which are mostly in the
tele series tv movies type and are mostly recent produced. These are not my type,
because I could not shake off my thirst for the Taiwan movies of years ago. I have
bought a love of the early issues of Shaw bros movies. Lately, these shops in
Manila stopped selling Shaw Movies too. The reason is that these are very expensive
by Philippine standards because of the price of 300 pesos each.
Luckily I was able to buy earlier but the recent releases no more.

Bill thanks again for sharing to us your passion and knowledge on this aspect. Please
keep on to share them to us. Thank you and regards....... Nelson

GREAT NEWS! ZHEN ZHEN UNFORGETTABLE VCB, FOUND AT LAST!

by Ms Beautiful

Hello! Fans of 70's,

I am so happy to share this news to you that I have finally found Zhen Zhen 70's VCD. I managed to buy CAI YUN FEI, SHUI LIAN YI and also HAI SHI SHAN MENG and many other more in Hongkong recently.

The 70's VCD are just displayed in a pool-cart along "Loi Yang Kai".

The VCD I paid for per pc. only costs S$4.00. So cheap....

I used to pay S$10 ~ S$24 in Singapore.

I was so fed-up that I had spent so much "YUAN WANG QIAN" in our hometown.

But anyway, I am now a very happy person because all those VCDs I bought are not available in Singapore.

And guess what, Zhen Zhen VCDs are most precious one.

Girls & Guys, if you are truly a fervent fan, you must go all the way to 'LOI YANG KAI" in HONGKONG from now...

Good Luck and all the Best!

*By the way, My name is really BEAUTIFUL, please don't make fun of my name and laugh at me, thanks!

Cheers

Thanks for sharing to us your experience. Actually, i have watched
Chen chen movies in some vcds. Like the one year dream and the dream
of the pearly curtain. These two movies where she was paired to Alan
tang. These two movies are great. I would recommend that you watch
them. They are very sentimental and nice stories. I remember also one
movie which i would want to watch in vcd. I remember in my elementary
days, i was able to watch with my father the movie title The Jilted in
mandarin is fu sin teh ren. The leading lady is Tang lan hwa paired with
Yang chin. I remember this is a tearjerker movie. Hoping that in the
future i will be able to watch it again. I am sure, my fellow Chinese
not only in Cotabato City, Philippines but as well as in the whole of
Asia, we will really enjoy this classic Taiwan Movie. I dont know whats
the latest life of the leading lady here, Ms Tang Lan Hwa. Hoping too
that she is leading a good life now. I would recommmend in case you
will be able to see this title, please watch it.

Hi, i think you are referring to Li Shiu Ling. The somewhat successor
of Lin Ching Hsia in the movies of Chiong Yao. She did some movies of
Chiong Yao, but sad to say, she did not make so much waves like Lin
Ching Hsia. For one, she is not as beautiful as Lin Ching Hsia. I think
Li Siu Ling comes from a well to do family. However, I was baffled because
after some time, she did some bold movies which is very very far away
from her previous image. I really was very disappointed about her. In
fact I felt she brought shame to her parents and family. lastly she just
faded. Yah, a very false move, when she did those bold movies. Maybe,
if she just did some tv series, it is better and she will be remembered
in the Moviedom history.

Believe in this - Shui yeh bu rao ren

by truly Chen Chen fan

I am a true fan of Chen Chen. I believe I must have watched every single of her movies in the 1970s and am still captivated by whatever news that is of her.

I believe she is very lucky to have married Liu Jia Chang. Had she stayed by Hsieh Xian's side, she would be a total wreck today. Despite her huge pile-on, Liu Jia Chang is still by her side and for this I salute him.

It is a fact that Chen Chen has really piled on the kilos but so have the rest. To start with, Chen Chen in her heydays was already plump especially so in "Love in a Cabin " and "Why I love you". Inevitably, her pile on will be more obvious than say Lin Feng Jiao and Lin Qing Xia in that order. Lin Qing Xia in her heydays was scrawny. Lin Feng Jiao was not so bad. The only person that still looks fabulous is Wang Chuan Ru but then she is much younger than Chen Chen.

It is so true that Shui Yeh bu rao ren - especially so in appearances.

Time has also not spared the men. Alan Tang has put on until it is almost hard to imagine he was so dashing. He admits it is the good food he has been partaking. Ah B has also not only aged but piled on as can be seen in Initial D. No amount of botox can save Chin Han who has aged tremendously over the last few years. However he maintained his good looks for a very long while.

This is probably the reason why most movie queens and kings always retire at the peak of their movie career when the impression of them is still good. It is even better if you keep low profile and stay out of the limelight thereafter like Charlie Chin.

Whatever the case, the paparazzi will always be around to feed us with more juicy information on their whereabouts, etc.

chen chen fan cotabato city philippines

by

Hi its really a big surprise to see the present apppearance of miss chen chen
in our vernacular we call chin tin. She was an angelic beauty in her hey
days. She was truly a beauty queen. After Lily Ho and other shaw beauties,
she emerge as the new princess and later queen of Chinese movies. Her films
were so hugely followed by typically all chinese in asia. Tremendous indeed
the praises and adoration by chinese fans all over asia. Even in a small
city in Mindanao Philippines Ms. Chen chen is recognized and well adored.
Soy ye pu rao ren really. Everybody is no exception. Cant believe that this
is how she looks now. very different from before can hardly trace a resemblance
of her years ago. Luckily for ling ching hsia and lin fong chiao theres not
much changes in their looks coz they did not pile on kilos. Hoping Chen chen
will do something about her weight so that she wont be so behind in looks now
compared with the two movie queens. We hope we can also hear about the
latest news about the shaw beauties, lily ho, ching li, margaret hsing hui,
ivy ling po, lili hua, hsu pei pei, chin ping, and many others. pls keep us
posted, i am sure many fans are waiting to know about their present life
situations. Thanks a lot. I have my personal vcd of eee nien yo mong. nice
movie of ms. chen chen. Hurray for Miss Chen Chen

I bought Feng Yeh Qing at West Mall TS for S$5 in June 2006. They were getting rid of their old stocks. They also had Yi ke hong dao ( Chin Han, Lin Qing Xia ), que shang xin toa ( Lu Xiuling, Liu Wen Zheng ), jin zhan hua ( chin Han, Lin Qing Xia ), jing shen jing shi ( Alan Tang,Candice Yu ), xin you qian qian jie ( Chin Xiang Lin, Chen Chen ), lui sher shan guang ( Lin Qing Xia, Ke jun Hsiung )and many others.

Hai Shi Shan Meng is not out yet.
