  • Ask a stupid question...

Well, for starters,HELLO EVERYONE! Alright, enough of that. My question is actually about the certain topic "Do people confuse fanfic with canon". I don't think so.See,when we watch a TV show,or a movie, isn't it all just fanfiction?True,some/most of it is created in the minds of those brilliant people who love the strange,BUT...Isn't it all fanfiction?Yes,I understand that in order to have fanfiction, you have to be a fan of something...But creating something initially means you are a fan of something, weather it be science fiction, fantasy,or something else of the sort...Am I right? So,people do not confuse fanfiction with a canon because in reality,a piece of fanfiction IS a canon, it is just simply one that hasn't been discovered yet. I am sure most of the writers of our time have been writting far longer than they've been famous-so what about the things before? Exactly. Some of us will become famous, and create fanfiction or stories of fiction inspired by something we are a fan of...In other words, isn't everything all just fanfiction?Take X-Files...Fanfiction based on the paranormal and things science can't explain...FANFICTION.And then WE write fanfiction based on that fanfiction. So in reality,we are writing canons for the show, only we haven't had them discovered.Fanfiction is basically what we wish to have been said or have happen..Isn't that what TV and movies are about?People writting what they wish would be said and what they wish would happen? You can scold me for taking the logical road here, but you have to admit I have a shocking point. If the directors and creators of our favorite shows weren't at some point writting fanfiction about a favorite something of theirs, then I'm sure we wouldn't even have anything such as books,TV,movies...Not even a Hollywood or any famous people. The first person to ever write anything was a fan of the imagination. The second,a fan of their work inspired to write something similar. The third,a fan of theirs, and so on.It all comes from one source,so basically, everything we write,is in fact, fanfiction, which is,in turn,a conon or novel of some kind.Thank you for your time, and listening to my ramblings.Email me.
