TORONTO, Ontario – The Ontario Lacrosse Association (OLA) Junior A Council will be hosting its All-Star festivities this Saturday, June 24 in Kitchener.
The Waterloo Memorial Recreation Complex will be the host for the 50th annual Junior A Lacrosse All-Star Game at 3pm. In what is the gathering of the games greatest Junior A players in the province, this year’s event should be nothing short of spectacular.
Appearing in this event will be league leading point scorer, Jackson Gair, of the Orillia Rama Kings. Gair has a total of 78 points. His 44 assists are also best in the league. League leading goal scorer with 34 goals, Ryan Benesch, out of Kitchener will also be in attendance. Another notable at the 2006 Junior A Lacrosse All-Star game is the Ontario Hockey League Rookie of the Year John Tavares of the Mississauga Tomahawks. Tavares has 48 points, the most for Mississauga and 7th best in the league.
Before the Junior A Lacrosse All-Star game, a Midget Showcase Game will take place at 1pm. Look for another action packed game of the best 16 year old, midget lacrosse players from the B, C & D centers throughout the province.
“The purpose of the Showcase Game is to present all of the graduating, draft eligible midget players at the same time in a game against each other and to present these young men to several USA college coaches for scholarship possibilities,” states Junior A Commissioner Dean McLeod.
Rogers Television will be airing both games. Starting at 2:00pm on Saturday, July 1st, the Junior A Lacrosse All-Star Game. Sunday, July 2nd at 2:00pm the Midget Showcase game.
