Oakville didn't finish 5'th, they ended up behind Windsor, and were losing to Windsor 4-2 in the third when they started to fight, and the game was called. Windsor had a bantam goalie in net to boot and only "Oakville's Super Star" could score on him...

yup but having a 4 point strap is stupid man

just cut the straps 2 off and use 2 and if the ref says something about not being enough points of contact throw on an extract one that goes under your chin on your throat

Problem with that

by Anonymous (no login)

If you cut 2 of the 4 straps off, you have now "altered that piece of equipment" & it is now illegal no matter if you add another starp or not.

A Ref told me last year that if you only have the 4 point it is illegal. But if you have the 4 point with the original "Throat strap" it is good. This now give you "6 points" but it is the 2 seperate "straps" that they are looking for.

Who ever the person was who started using the prhase "4 POINTS" is the one who caused all this mess & confusion in the first place.

You need 2 separate straps. A chin strap & a throat strap. period.

On hockey helmets the chin strap is the one that goes throught the cage. The new "Lacrosse cages" everyone is attaching to hockey helmets are ok as long as that throat stap from the hockey helmet is still there as it is an "original" piece of that helmet. Removing that throat strap now has you "Altering the helmet" making it illegal.

Anybody out there, Please correct me if I'm wrong.

But I checked with a few other refs on this as well. Problem is somtimes things change & not even they are properly informed as well as us.

You Cannot Alter Any Piece of Original Equipment

by Anonymous (no login)

"i never saw this called once last year for just having one chin strap and the hanging strap, they allow it"

Absolutely. That is legal!!!!!!

What is not legal is when you "CUT" 2 straps off the 4 point chin cup.

"You Cannot Alter Any Piece of Original Equipment."

This messed me up alot last year so here goes..........

If you have a hockey helmet & buy a LAX cage for it, you must leave the original throat strap on the hockey helmet as this is an original piece of the hockey helmet. Last year lots of players removed the throat strap as well as the ear "hoops" that this strap attaches to. Altered & now illegal.

If you have a LACROSSE HELMET with a LACROSSE MASK you only need the "Throat Strap" if it came with the LAX Helmet. Most of the new Lax helmets do not have these straps.

SO.... all you need there is the chin cup strap from the LAX mask you are attaching to the LAX helmet. Most all of these chin straps are "4 POINTS"

The confusion I saw last year is the Players, Coaches, Parents as well as
Refs were always putting all helmets in the same catagory.

I would like to say different rule for different helmets, but that would be wrong. The main rule you have to look at here is....

"You Cannot Alter Any Piece of Original Equipment"

Oh - Oh . . . . . .

I think I'm confused again

:-P

Re: Any thoughts??????????????

by Anonymous (no login)

I'm not sure about players, but for the first time in a long time, I'm really looking forward to watching junior lacrosse in Ontario.

With the Nations and Orangville losing players ( although Orangeville will plug holes with minor system ) there is a sense that the top two will have company this year.

Brampton is out to try and get some quality B players . They have to learn that when they finalize their schedule, to take into account when kids get back from school. That hurt them last year. HUGE !!

Peterborough is losing players to the west and major. With Shawn Evans gone out west, one thing is for sure, new Ontario MVP next year.

The changes in Burlington should help the Cheifs compete all year. The hard work ethic of those coming in will be noticed right away. What a change from the "homicidal, genocidal, suicidal" style of Jeremy Tavelli. Too bad the guy didn't play like he coached. He learned that not practicing what you preached will bite you in the butt. Turtle, turtle...

I'm not sure Mississauga is quite there yet, but there have been improvements from the disaster that Burton left. Having a B team to draw from can only help this organization in the long run.

Whitby is always a threat. Then again , when you can choose from thousands of kids, you should compete.

Junior A lacrosse should be very competetive all year long.

With the Buzz losing some of the keys players I am interested in seeing just how they do. Bringing on Stu Brown was a smart move that will help them for years to come.

Is Mimico finally going to get to the show? With the talent they've had there over the years they should have already been and won the show. The changes that need to happen for this team to win, won't happen and now with Mississauga back in B , Mimico will lose some of their talent and talent pool. It's a sad state when some of Mimico's best and most talented are playing intermediate instead of B.

The Saints made great strides last year. I look for them to continue to improve. They will make some noise this year I think.

Knowone can ever count out the Gaels. Their program is solid. They are also starting to see results from their minor program , which to me is one of the best minor programs in lacrosse. This can only help them, as if they needed the help.

Junior B lacrosse always seems to be a league where if you get hot at the right time, you can go all the way. With the exception of last year's Buzz team and the 85 and 93 Saints, it's up in the air every year.

To all of you players making the step into junior this coming year. Good luck. Remember it's not just making it, it's staying there. Work hard and check your attitudes at the door and someday , maybe with luck and hard work , "Whamper " will be listing you in the Bible of Lacrosse..

St Kitts, Nations and Whitby should be the frontrunners as all three teams return a strong core of players. Brampton think they can compete with most of the same crew they had last year, time will tell. Orangeville, Peterborough, Beaches will re-build and look to make the playoffs. Missy / Burlington should have a chance at the last spot. Orilla, Ottawa, Sasne and Kitchener will be on the outside looking in.

Mimico

by Anonymous (no login)

All of the players, coaches & managment of Mimico Jr B should leave there attitudes at the door.

This is the one main reason that Mimico has continued to come up short these past years.

Players attitudes are keeping them off the team.

Coaches & Management attitudes are keeping other players from leaving Inter & playing Jr B.

Who cares what happened last year or 5 years ago.

Re: Where are the new hot team's where are people goin to play next year

by Anonymous (no login)

Some possible reasons/ways these players might be able to get their release...

1) HLA Prez has stated in the past that he would not stand in the way of someone who wanted to play somewhere else.

2) If you're the coach of that team - do you really want a bunch of kids that don't want to be there. Personally, I'd rather drop down a level (or two) and have kids that want to play there. I would think the coaching staff of that team would want to have face to face meetings with those that want out.

3) If the HLA doesn't give the release the player can always appeal to the OLA and if the reasons are deemed sufficient the release will be granted. But then all the other rules kick in and you'd need to get released through any organization between Hammy and your target... so being able to pick where you want to go might not be that easy.

4) If you can prove you've moved to your target association as of (I think) January 1 then you won't need a release. BTW - I don't know what form of 'proof' would be required.

If a player and their family want out that badly... there are a number of ways to make it happen.

Hopefully someone from the HLA is reading this stuff and working (very hard) to figure out what's going on and to correct it.

Regards,
Jim

You missed 66 on Halton, big lanky defender. My vote as one of the best, if not the best defender in A. You also missed 18 on Oakville. He's a good loose ball man and is solid on defence, good transition player. Other than that, your list is bang on.

How's the draft shaping up

by Anonymous (no login)

How does everyone think the draft is looking now? with some all-star nominations some people didn't expect and some players stepping up and others falling apart, who does everyone see the top 5-10 in the draft being? Alot of people are saying that certain teams have a great need for goaltending, but im sure alot are also losing quality scorers as well..lets see what you think.

why do you guys keep talking about these goalies. they did nothing. Nations, whitby, brampton, all those goalies played great. the others did nothing. spence had great d all year, when his team sucked at the summer games his real game showed up. he sucks. at least hickey and stevenson showed they could play, cause they never had that great of teams to start with.

A very wise 15 year old lacrosse analyst on the midget forum says someone else is probably better'! and thats what's going to happen to that kid and you and who knows who else! because this is the forum to find out about the worst lacrosse players in ontario and all the gm's read it.

Re: Mimico Bantam

Barrie had two bantams plus a goalie come up. One bantam scored when it mattered. The goalie had to play because the chicken shi t Bramtam team called a strap on the barrie goalie at a 4 4 tie at the end of the second period of the A procincials. he told the coaches that Bramton could not beat the first goalie. What an a.s.s. Barrie showed all you that they where an A team and let the record speak for itself. If you want to cherp ask Ornagville if we didn't belong in A. I belive Barrie finished in 5th at the provincials to fuc k off all of u.

I think most of the Mimico Bantam goalies have played up at Midget at some point, this year & last.

My son is the one who played up in the innis game for the short lived Midget2 team. He is on the Mimico Bantam2 team.

& yeah Shears of the Bantam1 team has a rocket fast shot!

and they cant hit the net either...
Come on guys we could be talking about baseball.
now that would give you something to moan about...

From the top of A to the bottom of D each team has its victories dont put them down.
Cuz even our best A winners would get smoked playing field in the states too.

First of all The OLA has final say in who gets rated what so there second of all, nobody on the team was happy with the D rating we agree with anyone that says we should have been C and last but not least Cambridge has about at least 4 guys that could be a huge part of a B team #2,3,7,5

Now if you wanna game set it up Cambridge will hide behind nothing

taunting our goalie, yelling at our players,Spartan moms can only dish it out once it happens to them they get upset because they see how annoying it truely is, they kept our ball that went into the stands in mimico who does that not a mature person definetly not. they said we threw the ball at them on purpose. one mom even went as far as threatining me saying shes gonna kick my ass another said that she will hit me with there team bus. Wow...Halton might win something without imploding as they do in box? Lucky they took extra players from other centers to get them over the hump...a real Championship team wouldn't add players...would go with who won. How's it feel to sit out and let Orangeville and London players take your spot!

91 on brampton , chirps alot and likes to give you dirty shots ... I didnt see him in ottawa when we played them ... there was no number 91 out there. Looked like 25 was pretty chippy on there team aswell.

3 on oakville just because he is big and he can hit hard on defense.

55 on hh because he swings like a maniac when the ball is loose.

13 on hh because he gets sucky and goes crying to ref.
