It is very difficult for someone from another culture to adjust so easily to another culture. For example in PNG if you are getting married, its like you become a property of the whole tribe..not only your wife or husband. We still have all those links..damn its more like you are married to the whole tribe or family.

I heard this poor white bugger saying..Olo man..Mi ting Tom, Dick na Harry tasol em ol tambu blong mi..tasol ol lain long narapela ples tu kam tok tambu long mi tu..em wanem kain pasin nau? The poor old bugger was so confused.. planti tambu tumas,,because he was thinking that only his wife's brothers were his inlaws..

But yeah cross cultural marriages are very difficult and the failure rates a very high..I don't have the stats to back that up...but it would be startling to conduct some research into it and see for yourself the failure rate of such marriages due to lack of understanding and appreciation.
