Oh so quiet

Sarajane

It's been rather quiet here recently but I expect things to change quite soon.

My crystal ball shows this forum becoming more popular than Abby's.

Hopefully, Carl and his mates will soon charge £10 per year membership and pay me a small commission.

Fewer posts yes, but this forum is so much better without the fools and the fantasists, one of whom seems to have ceased his Internet activities completely.

Having said that, I am pleased to see the return of George. His messages are stimulating. He is becoming a real cult.

I'm at home

We are having a very quiet time on the forum this weekend: everybody has gone on holiday to Hove. For those readers that remain, here is a nice story for you. I am not religious, but this had me in tears.

"Footprints"

One night a man had a dream. He dreamed he was walking along the beach with the LORD.

Across the sky flashed scenes from his life. For each scene he noticed two sets of footprints in the sand: one belonging to him, and the other to the LORD.

When the last scene of his life flashed before him, he looked back at the footprints in the sand. He noticed that many times along the path of his life there was only one set of footprints.

He also noticed that it happened at the very lowest and saddest times in his life. This really bothered him and he questioned the LORD about it:

"LORD, you said that once I decided to follow you, you'd walk with me all the way. But I have noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life, there is only one set of footprints. I don't understand why when I needed you most you would leave me."

The LORD replied:

"My son, my precious child, I love you and I would never leave you. During your times of trial and suffering, when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you."

Good story from Mary!

It’s always quiet here at holiday times, but that’s no bad thing. It gives a man time to reflect on what he has done for the forum and what the forum has done for him during the past twelve months. And there is now time to re-read the old posts and laugh and cry and cry. Sometimes the pace of life here is too fast and when I see the boy racers posting at 80mph I think to myself:

This forum is a bustling town
But in the summer it will slow down.
