I would be really keen to hear from and females who got punished in Scottish schools. I know that many were belted and in my primary a few were spanked.

Our teacher in Primary 1 lifted misbehavers over her lap and smacked with her hand. We had two teachers (Primary 3 and Primary 6)who used the slipper quite a lot (you had to bend over and touch your toes). The Primary 3 teacher (a woman) lifted girls' skirts, and this caused quite a lot of shock/horror (and no doubt interest among the boys). Apart from that the belt (tawse) was used on the hands. I never heard of the slipper being used in secondary on either boys or girls, except in PE.

There were a few girls spanked in my primary 2 class. After that it was mainly the strap that was used. I myself was spanked in primary.
