WILL YOU PLEASE STOP ADVERTISING ON THE WOMEN’S ENGINEERING MESSAGE BOARD!

I have read some of the stuff here and it is very rude indeed. Also you are elitist.

Thank you.

Some of us, but not many, may be rude but we are certainly not elitist. Our illustrious contributors come from all walks of life. We have actors, musicians, publishers, kinky teachers and lawyers.

Please advertise your message board here. We enjoy reciprocation.

Thank you for your kind offer. I’m sorry if I was hasty yesterday, but life for us women in engineering can sometimes be hard.

Our message board is at http://www.voy.com/110891/

Your advertisement is still showing, but it won’t be after our fearless moderator has seen it!

Onanologist or onanist?

Surely, an onanologist is one who studies Onan or onanism in an academic way while not necessarily being a practitioner?

Indeed, and I believe this forum has only one member who has devoted her life to that!

A Crying Shame

March 2 2003, 3:59 PM

This topic promised to be an excellent one with scope for a wide range of opinion with regard to artistic excellence. It has, however, been ruined, as have several other threads, by writing of a surrealist nature. This is not the sort of stuff I want to read on a Sunday afternoon, or indeed at anytime.

I shall, therefore, spend the remainder of the day reading the simple homespun philosophies of hundreds of Colonials who contribute to memoirs:spanking. They are at present engaged in battle with a very good friend of this forum who lives in Birmingham and are using a strategy known at Stamford Bridge since the time of Roy Bentley as ‘total football’.

Dear, dear PM(T?),

It is with commensurate sincerity that I offer my humblest possible apologies for getting this thread so off-track. To make up for it, and to contribute to this board's wider reach, I have posted a message at http://www.bbc.co.uk/cgi-perl/h2/h2.cgi?state=threads&board=gardening.general1& .

And let us all give three cheers for our Brummie wench who is so tirelessly beating back the colonial masses over at the other site. I do fear, however, that she is loosing steam, with no suitable substitutions on the bench. Soon watching people respond to her will be about as exciting as watching the Neville brothers try to contain Chris Sutton. Methinks perhaps a more flamboyant approach may be in order. As my dear, dear friends in the west side of the shack use to tell me at moments such as this, 'Get your tits out for the lads!...'

Sod the Colonials!

I have many, many, dear, dear friends here and hope to continue providing them with a little light entertainment.

I am confident that your enquiry regarding garden canes will receive one reply within the next few hours, although it is likely to be deleted before tomorrow.

Does anyone here use garden canes? What type do you use and where did you acquire them? Are they flexible or rigid? [reply] [Alert A Moderator]

Well I think the answer lies in the soil. I mean, we simple country folk like to get out and about and ofttimes we do travel from the Forest of Dean up to the Bromford Estate there to buy all manner of things including garden canes. I myself prefer the flexible kind, as used at the Copland Green Forum, while Fran, my significant other, says no beating about the bush, she prefers them a bit stiffer. Some miserable bitch has deleted my message on the Engineers’ board and a reply thereto from Steff. Pantsophiles will appreciate the reference to underwear. I am pleased to see that Steff is at last attempting to find more congenial employment.

British Gas are now recruiting Trainee Service Engineers. We will consider applicants who posses 4GCSE's. Preference will be givern to candidates who have additional relevant engineering experience, qualifications and/or can demonstrate practical experience in customer facing roles. You will be aged between 17-23, preferably holding a full UK driving licence, with excellent communication skills and bundles of enthusiasm. You must be self reliant, and able to demonstrate pride and effort in anything you undertake.

Females are currently under represented among our Engineering workforce, a trend we are seeking to rebalance. If you are interested in applying you can call our recruitment hotline for an application pack on:

0800 801 161

Benefits include a starting salary of app. £11,600 progressing to £22k to £28k once qualified. You receive a vehicle, tools, uniform, mobile and can benefit from a Company pension scheme and share options.

You will train as either a Service Engineer, carrying out rapid turnaround jobs such as annual servicing of customers central heating systems or fault diagnosis, or as an Installation Engineer working on longer duration projects, seeing the central heating installation process through from start to finish. Either way, you will be field based, largely organising your own day, needing you to be self-motivated and able to think on your feet, presenting the company's world class image at all times.

Dear, dear Dave,

This job sounds really super indeed. I'm tired of my current job, as my supervisors are all right BASTARDS. Would your company consider hiring a 35-year-old with an MPhil, excellent written communication skills, agoraphobic tendencies, and an annoying smirk when speaking to intellectual inferiors? If so, would you please respond at http://www.network54.com/Forum/198833 ?

Women's Engineering Society Messageboard Policy

1. The WES Messageboard is intended for notices that are strictly relevant to WES. It is to be used to communicate issues, questions, events for women in engineering at all stages of their careers. Other uses impair the usefulness of our board to us, and irrrelevant messages will be removed.

2. Any messages containing offensive elements will be deleted.

3. The only direct advertising that will be allowed from non-members is information about jobs and positions relevant to our members. Prior payment is required. (Contact info@wes.org.uk.) Messages that include pointers to products or services in response to queries may be acceptable.

Responses to advertisements should be sent to the appropriate address and not published on the board. Personal details should not be published, and messages containing them will be removed.

4. Time-sensitive messages or those deemed to no be longer strictly relevant may be deleted without prior warning.

5. WES reserves the right to remove any message at any time without giving any warning or any reason.

Sod your policy!

I often visit the dyke engineers board but the best stuff gets deleted. I found the following posted earlier today. I saved it for you, since it is sure to be deleted before the cock crows.

WES Messageboard

Please read our messageboard policy page. We intend to clamp down on what we see as abuse of our board, and will be removing messages which fall outside our guidelines. General recruitment advertisements must have prior approval. We think messages with names and addresses are not appropriate (we care more about your privacy than some of you do), and will remove them. If you are applying for a job, you need to contact companies directly.

Thank you for clamping down. I don't want to come here to read messages about school corporal punishment.
