Just in case anyone missed this enquiry hidden under 'Question'...

Was it general to remove socks when told to remove trousers for a caning/slippering? In most cases shoes would have to be removed, whether asked for or not, simply to take the trousers off. On my one and only occasion I had intended to leave mine on, but because they weren't the regulation black or grey, I was ordered to remove them and given an extra stroke!

This, I forgot to say, was at school, not at home, though the question applies there too, if your Dad preferred a more vulnerable target.

Socks on or off?

Warren, I sent a response to this post when it was put under QUESTION, so suggest you go back there to read it - basically, I used to take my socks off every time because I thought that keeping them on made me look and feel pretty stupid! Dad never asked me to take them off, but always let me do it before bending me over.

At school 30 yeras ago, if we were caned we kept our trousers on, so obviously shoes and socks as well. In the gym we often got a plimsoll across our backsides, we had to have bare feet in the gym, so this was just in shorts.

At home my father used to send us to our room, telling us to get ready for his belt, this meant take our clothes off, including socks. When he came up he expected us to be stripped completely to get the belt on our backside, legs and once back.

We had a PE teacher who kept telling us that wearing gymshoes without socks was unhygienic. However, some of us used to go to the gym like that because it was less hassle than having to change from school socks into the prescribed white socks then back again at the end of the session. About once every 4 or 5 weeks, though, he would have a purge. Anyone not wearing socks in the gym were sent back to the changing room to put them on, and on return were treated to a pretty hard slippering with his size 10!

I was given a total of 3 'pants only' canings at school. Unbelievably painful. The system was to turn up at the housemaster's room at the time he said, ready. So, about 5 minutes before the appointed time, I (or whoever it happened to be) went to our dormitory, took off our shoes and trousers, and then made our way, dressed in just shirt and tie, underpants and socks, to the master's room. The room was a little public - just near the dining hall - so having to stand there with legs bare except for the socks, was a humiliation in itself. We all kept our socks on (as far as I remember) because his room didn't have carpet. It had old-fashioned floor tiles, some of them cracked, so keeping our socks on stopped our feet from getting cold, and possibly even cut.

At my second prep school there was a Head of Discipline who every day between 12.30 and 1.00, and 4.30 and 5.00 for boarders, would be on 'slipper duty'. The routine was the same for everybody - take your rugby/soccer kit with you; while the lad in front of you was being dealt with you went in to the secretary's room to change into your games kit (she always vacated the room at these times thankfully); then you were called in for the slipper dressed in rugby shirt, black shorts and rugby socks which had to be pulled up. On one occasion I went in with them pushed down around my ankles because that was the way I wore them when playing soccer, but he simply knelt down behind me and pulled them up and turned them down at the top. We didn't wear boots or plimsolls, just socks. Then he would pull the shirt out of the shorts if you had it tucked it, ease you over to the side of his desk, and push your head forward. Shorts stayed up. And off he'd go....

Stuart, I have a feeling we went to the same school judging from your description. We also had a had of discipline - Mr. Watson - ring a bell - and the procedure was the same. Also, he never spoke, from the moment he walked in to the time he'd finished slippering you. And you're right about be meticulous with the dress code. On one occasion I lost one of my football socks and noone would lend me one. So I went in with just one footie sock and one ordinary black school sock. Even then he didn't speak, just looked at them both with dismay, then walloped me bloody hard!

Quite right too! How fed up I am with the current fashion for wearing trainers/sneakers with no socks. Anyone doing so should be thrashed for having no sense of taste or decorum.

What utter twaddle.

If you were ever caned on the bare bottom, which obviously nobody here has been, you would know that you would have been ordered to "let your trousers down." You then go to the chair, over which you are expected to bend, undo your belt and fly buttons (when I was beaten on my bare bottom zips were not in vogue), and your trousers fall to your ankles unaided. You then push down your underpants, usually to your knees, and bend over.

You are never ordered to take your trousers OFF, so the question of taking off your shoes or socks does not arise.

The order is "get your trousers down," or "let your trousers down," or simply, "trousers down, boy and bend over that chair!"

Royston, your experience of a bare-assed caning is precisely that - yours. Do you honestly think that, in all the thousands of different boarding, private and state schools throughout the country, teachers didn't devise their own peculiar ways of administering C.P? Of course they did, as reading any of the threads in this forum will testify. I didn't claim to have had a bare-bottomed caning - that was not permitted in my school. Underpants only, however, was, but the real persecution was the public walk to, and wait outside, the office WITHOUT the dignity of trousers. Weird maybe, but it was not questioned by us at the time.
We are all only in a position to recount our own experiences, and cannot expect everyone to have had any absolutely identical to our own.

It is quite possible that they were related, for they have unpleasantness and bullying in common. Sir Jammy was an unpleasant man who attempted to bully the owners of a magazine. Do you really epect anyone to believe that any school in Britain made boys walk publicly in their underpants and without trousers on to any place and then wait outside anybody's room to be caned?

Enjoy your sexy bottom caning stories by all means but do not try and kid anyone that they are genuine experiences. Don't exaggerate. It destroys your credibility.

I was once caned for wearing white socks to school after being repatedly told not to by ther dep head (the man who wielded the cane). As an add-on to the punishment, I was told to take my shoes and socks off. The socks werre dropped in the bin. I was given more than the traditional six - in fact, double. Six for wasting his time and six for having known better.
It was the worst bloody caning and to add to matters I was 17 years old, had to wait outside Mr W's study ("hands on head!" - which always meant you were in for a right thrashing!!!) and saw several mates and other teachers while I was in that undignified position. Nick, the other lad up for trouncin that day, was also in my year and also had to wait in that position. Because I went home without socks, my parents wondered what had happened. My dad was the first to notice. I ended up getting a bloody good larruping , which I have never forgotten, across his knee with the clothes brush.

Richard, you poor bastard, the punishment you received far outweighed the crime. In my time at school (mid 70s) we all used to wear bright red socks - the contrast with regulation black shoes and black trousers was great fun! Later, of course, schoolboys starting wearing white socks - it was so prevalent that clearly most teachers turned a blind eye. To have thrown yours in the bin was surely an act of theft. If I had been your dad I would have sent the school a bill for a replacement pair.

Did you ever dare to wear white socks again? Did your caning act as a deterrent to other lads at your school? How long did the stripes take to heal?

Interesting re the red socks. Ours were white as you know to be rebellious too and larey. We also used to wear Farah trousers and Gabbici jumpers and such. Farahs still a big turn on.
The stripes took a good couple of weeks as they were compunded by dads punishment at home (his last major one!! apart from the thrashing when I was at college) Let me know if you want to correspond.... Or if anyone wants more details.

Richard, did anybody else get caned for wearing white socks? Was there outrage from other boys about the severity of your punishment? If we had had the cane at our school for the crime of wearing white socks, there would have been a queue right round the building.

A few other lads did get caned around the same time, one in particular who was pretty larey! People stopped wearing them for a while. My mate Mick got the same treatment (socks in bin). We were all lectured in assembly about school uniform. The crack down (across our backsides) only lasted as long as Watson had the energy to bother. Another thing was hair. hair styles, bleacvhed hair, all that. A few lads had enforced barner visits, supervised, then back to school for a lecture and the cane at 4.05. One of them told me he was squirming in the seat at the barbers knowing he had the cane coming and that his heart was going like the clappers. They all copped it good!

one of our form teachers used to have a 'clean shoes' inspection when we were lined up outside the classroom every morning; if he judged that your shoes were dirty, he would pull you out of the line and, after allowing everyone to walk into the classroom, give 3 whacks with the slipper on your arse. The same applied to anyone wearing socks that were any colour other than grey or black - though they were often the same pupils whose shoes were dirty! Nevertheless, he didn't double the punishment - always 3 maximum, although the power of the whacks may have reflected the double crime!
