Thanks to all that post here I enjoy everyone's views and stories.I grew up near Toronto in the 60's when CP was very much in style. We were given the strap on the hands for rules infractions. The strap was tawse like with no split but actually more rubber like similar to conveyor belt material.Usual dose was a quick 3 on each.It was quite effective and usually only used 3-4 times during a whole school year. The pain was tremendous however most could take this 3 on each with out breaking down. Some did weep however.I personally got it twice in one year when aged 13 for bullying.I can tell you after my second dose which was doubled to 6 on each (extra hard I'm sure)I lst all control and balled my eyes out.Mrs. Kempthorn the principal made me wait with the school secretary after while she filled out her report which made it worse. The secretary was older and was grinning from ear to ear.Would luv to share more with anyone via email or whatever..Thanks

Welcome to our Happy Circle, gimmeshelter27, and thank you for writing such complimentary things! As a regular reader you will know that our writers are rarely praised.

I believe you are the first contributor from Canada to this forum. We are a rather insular lot and know little about corporal punishment in countries other than the U.K. We would be very interested, therefore, to read more of your experiences. Our members can sometimes get quite excited about ‘on the bum’ punishments. Were these given in Canadian schools?
