Caroline Graham gives some brief details in a biography, about Camilla Parker Bowles' experiences at Dumbrells School for Girls, and on page 7 she says, "It was tough on discipline. From the age of five, children would be punished with a lash of the cane to the bare buttocks for any misdemeanor."

And talking about Camilla on the same page she says, "Once she was caned for talking in class. She must have been about six or seven years old. She came back into the classroom and when she sat down you could tell she was wincing in pain. She did not hang her head in shame and she absolutely refused to cry. The tears were in her eyes and her bottom lip was quivering."

Has anyone come across any other accounts of the use of the cane on the bare bottom at Dumbrells?
