In the school set spanking films I've seen on line many of girls are wearing stockings and suspenders under their gymslips/netball skirts. How common was this back in the good old days of school CP?

It was about as common as most other ingredients of School CP films.

Some of the older girls at my school wore them once in a while, but most unfortunately just wore tights.

Stockings went out of vogue a bit with the advent of tights in the sixties. However every now and again stockings would have a brief comeback. When I first started at my secondary school some of the sixth form girls were wearing them.

The sixth form still had to wear uniforms at my school, also most of the girls had got a little big for theirs by then and only having a year or so left I guess their parents didn't bother getting them new uniforms. Happily for us this meant that they would be pretty much busting out of their blouses and their skirts were often way too short (and on the rare occasion that stockings were being worn you could occasionally catch a glimpse of their stocking tops when they were sitting down or crossing their legs etc.

Now it seems stockings have been confined to fancy dress, Ann summers parties but once they were everyday items of clothing for all girls and women over about fourteen.

Whatever happened to white kneesocks..They were in abundance in the 70s/80s

It must have been great to have been a headmaster at one of thouse few schools that did spank, slipper or strap girls back in the 60/70's esspecially if they were older girls wearing frilly stockings and suspender belts.

Did all girls back then wear gym-knickers, or did some girls just wear non school knickers, in the hope that no one would find out?

My investigational nature during my senior years at school lead me to conclude that at my school anyway, although supost to wear gymkickers most girls only wore them if they had PE that day.

I don't know how old you lot are but if you were at school in the late 50s/early 60s you would know that girls started wearing stockings under their gymslips in the winter at about the age of 13 or 14 when they got a bit too old for white ankle socks. In most schools there was a formal age at which this could happen, normally in the third or fourth form.

Tights did not become available cheaply until about 1965.

Schoolgirls did not often wear suspender belts. These were considered somewhat risqué, particularly frilly ones. The normal way of holding up stockings was via a roll-on, an open bottomed girdle with suspenders attached. Knickers were worn over the top.

A roll-on was not a sexy garment, more of a passion killer. What was good, however, was the gap between the stocking top and the knicker leg. It was often known by boys of the time as the chuckling zone - once you got past there you were laughing.

I would love to have been around then, I think stockings are really sexy especially under gymslips. What about the other spanking movie ingredient... pigails...

Did girls really wear their hair in bunches or pigtails in the sixth form or was that very un-cool beyond the lower school?

Some girls wore their pigtails at my school right up to the sixth form, but the majority wore their hair down, although sometimes they were told to tie their hair back.
