I have always taken the view, both in vanilla and scene life, that if one has nothing good to say about a particular individual, event or gathering, then one should say nothing at all.

After all, in the employment world, one is disallowed from giving a bad reference, so one simply gives none at all.

Whilst I agree that this practice is not always possible, I do try, where I can, to adhere to it.
