Teachers at homeJanuary 7 2005 at 3:31 AM | The belt |
| - I have often been curious to know if teachers, a fair percentage of the parenting age group, used formal school-type CP on their own offspring at home and I wonder if anyone on the group has any first or second hand information.
I was 'educated' in Scotland in the 1970's and I know of at least one boy in my class whose teacher father taught in another school and who used his Lochgelly tawse across his son's hands at home when needed(I suppose he would have been 13/14) in the exact same manner as he dealt with misbehaving pupils in his own class.
I was not in the least envious!

It has been my experience that many teachers who have no problem with using CP on their students at school have a policy of absolutely no CP at home. In other words, it's ok to beat someone elses child, but not their own. |

There is a difference between managing a small number of children at home and a much larger number of children in school. |

I had a mate at school whos dad was a teacher. He said his dad caned him at home, and we saw some of his stripes at PT. He said the headmaster always left it to his dad to cane him, so he was never caned at school. |
