Either way, it's only the boys that get caned. CP for girls isn't allowed at all in Singapore, and this rule is actually enforced (I sense already an immediate loss of interest on the part of many on this foro).

By the way, several other Singapore schools also state on their websites that they use the cane:

and some of them, e.g. Ang Mo Kio school and Seng Kang school, make it explicit that the cane is for boys only and specify alternative punishments for girls.

Although,girl may not not be offical be caned,we can "request" for it.!Let say,if we commited some offences,the school can either suspened or expel us,some girls[1 of them is me]ask our school not to expel us,so we offered to get caned,usually carried in saturday,in private.Can get the max 6 strokes with uniform on,still very painful.

I was at schoolinthe 1940s. If we disrespected any adult, or if we misbehaved in any way, we KNEW we would be caned.
MOST people had the good sense to behave.

clarification:

victoria school is an all boys school in singapore, which has a 4 year system leading to the GCE O Level examinations at the end of it.

Victoria Junior College is 2 year college, leading to the A Level Examinations.

in almost all mixed schools in singapore, there will be caning for the boys, so definitely VS would have it too.
