| I look forward to seeing members of the Happy Circle at the Festival today and tomorrow.
This photograph taken at last year’s event remains one of the most valuable items in my golden treasure chest of memories. As Tennyson had it:
How said, how strange, the days that are no more.

It was well worth sacrificing part of my holiday in fashionable Peacehaven in order to be able to attend today’s festival. The highlight of the day was a brilliant performance by a theatrical company called ‘Georgian Mildred’. You can read about them at

The lady is quite stunning.
Is this an example of the kind of punishment they endured during Georgian times?

The performance ends with a lively song and dance

The Goof family from Whitehawk enjoyed themselves immensely.
That’s my kind-a family at my kind-a festival with my kind-a entertainment. I sure will be moseying on down there tomorrow.

I am surprised that Cheryl Baker is a member of the Goof family. Or is she just making her mind up?

Yesterday I wrote to Georgian Mildred thus:
I was enchanted by your performance yesterday. I took several photographs and have uploaded two of them to a social history forum at:
www.Network54.com/Forum/198833
The pictures and a link to your website are contained within the ‘Brunswick Festival’ thread.
With best wishes from,

And today I was thrilled to bits to receive the following charming reply from this extremely talented couple which I am sure they will have no objection to me sharing with you all.
Hi John,
We were delighted to receive your email and pictures.
Your feedback meant a lot to us and cheered us up on this miserable rainy day (Monday). We'll let you know the next time Mildred gets the sedan chair out and graces Sussex with her presence. We also have lots of fun photos from Brighton and Bath festivals to add to the web site, but I’m afraid that will take a week or so before they're added.
Any ideas you may have on how to improve our act, venue suggestions etc. etc. gratefully received. One thought is to tailor our act for performance in schools, but then we'd also like to perform this in Uppark Georgian stately home in W.Sussex.
Kind regards Huw and Michele aka Georgian Mildred.

Later today I hope to upload a few more photos of Saturday’s performance.

The debonair Huw and the gorgeous Michelle updated their website yesterday.

Details of performances in 2006 are given and if you go to the 2005 Performances page you can read the mighty nice things they have written about me.

I apologise to Michele for misspelling her name. She just ain’t the kind-a lady to use the Anglicised version.

Huw and Michele are scheduled to take part in the BBC Southern Counties Radio (104-104.8FM) programme ‘Festival Live’. The broadcast is on Tuesday 16 May and starts at 19.00.
Several of our members are devotees of flute-blowing and they will be interested to learn that Michele is known on the South Coast as ‘the Jean-Pierre Rampal of the Old Shoreham Road.’

The programme I heard, and must tell you that Huw and Michele were brilliant! They performed an ABBA song with accompaniment on an eighteen-century jangle-box.
During the interview Michele even managed to get in that old ‘four kings’ joke.
I was going to take the mother-in-law to the show on Friday, but it is sold out already.
