I spanked my boy today.
He'd torn his clothes at play
And tracked across the rug
And peered at me in such a smug,
Defiant, impish way;
I sort of lost my head.
I spanked him till his little
Spanking place was red
But now that he's in bed
I don't know what to say.
It’s .... hard...
A sleeping child
Is such a chokey sight,
The face so very small
Against the pillow white,
The hands upthrown,
A toy on guard,
The fair hair mussed...
If I've betrayed
My sacred tiny trust,
Oh Lord of little children,
Please don't scold me
But let me give
The scales of love
An extra disc of patience
To outweigh....
I wish I hadn't
Spanked my boy today.
