Ceremonies-of the horsemen?

Did you have any ceremonial trappings when CP was carried out at your school?

At Grammar School, there was nothing beyond the headmaster or headmaster of Lower School(first 2 years) occasionally announcing at prayers that certain behaviours ie what had just been deal with, would not be tolerated and I have dealt with x number of offenders with regard to this. No names.

When the Fiend arrived in Jan 66, the Headmaster's Noticeboard, situated at the crossing point of corridors & stairs suddenly sprouted more than the Friday list of those about to waste a Saturday morning in detention.

My one entry

Montmerency(NOT my real surname) of 4N has been beaten for smoking.

Signed by the Head itself, but no further details re strokes.

Any one else suffer this or similar indignities/brief cult iconoclastic status? Yes, it didn't quite have the desired effect on moi!

. . . even the pawn must hold a grudge.
Spanko's and their stories
Crumble into one another,
You wonder why they bother,
I know enough to argue and to judge.

Morning assembly routine

March 31 2006, 10:44 PM

Crimes were often denounced at morning assembly followed by a list of names of boys who were to report to the headmaster's office straight after. Not all on the list were necessarily criminals who were to be caned - a fact I did not appreciate the first time I heard my own name called. I probably missed some key punctuation or subtle of intonation, e.g.

"I will not tolerate disorderly conduct on the school buses. Smith and Brown report to me straight after assembly. I will also see Jones, White 3Ab and Green".

Smith and Brown were known trouble makers who had been involved in a scuffle on the bus. They got four strokes each. Jones had been awarded a scholarship. The headmaster wanted public speaking winners White and Green to speak to his Rotary group.

Excellent-you must've picked that up initially from your parent's record collection, of course, but still well spotted!

And the bloke's still going strong 41 years after writing that AND still has more dosh & hair than me!

See what CP does for you!
