Ambitiously priced at £2.25 in W.H.Smith, but free at Shoreham Airport today, is the glossy, but piss-poor, magazine ‘Brighton and Hove Life’.
Doctor Robert Heaven MBACP (Accred) UKReg, PG. Dip Couns, D. Arts is described as the magazine’s ‘resident counsellor’ and to him A.F. of Steyning writes:
‘My best friend recently told me about an incident at school almost 30 years ago. She told me how when she was about 15, she got caught smoking pot and was taken to the headmaster. He gave her a choice between the police being called or corporal punishment. I don’t know what the law regarding corporal punishment was at the time, but it seems to me that a headmaster smacking the bottom of a fifteen-year-old girl is a little odd. Do you think this is a cry for help?’
Not realising that A.F. stands for 'a fantasist', Doctor Robert replies thus:
‘Corporal punishment in schools wasn’t made illegal until 1987 and in the 1970s many schools in the UK still went in for it. It was common for offences to be addressed with the cane, strap or blows to the hand.[!]
In your friend’s case, she chose to be spanked, hoping it would be lesser than what she might have got from the police. If the head did anything other than administering that punishment, such as touching her intimately, then this would, of course, constitute abuse.
As for this being a cry for help, your friend is an adult who is able to talk to you on a fairly deep level, so why not ask her if she needs help or was just sharing a secret.’
You can write to the doctor at riverclinic@hotmail.com
Mmmm it seems to me one of our members is attempting to attain a genralised impression of the knowledge non spanking enthusiasts have on the subject. It seems as a result that the avarage person albeit a doctor, believes it fairly normal for a 15 year old schoolgirl to have been spanked bare bummmed by her headmaster. I wonder if he was from a mixed school background?
Where was this question found?

There is nothing in the letter that tells us it was a bare-bottom spanking. "Smacking the bottom of" is the only clue.
Most likely it was a couple of whacks over the skirt - that is, if it happened at all.

Telling an unlikely story in order to provoke a reaction (as in writing to an agony aunt) is quite a good strategy for finding out the truth about a scenario. For one reason because if a agony aunt/uncle believes your story, then it must mean that it isn't completely unheard of, or at least not wholly unthinkable. Someone like that has no agenda, not being a spanking enthusiast or fantasist or an anti fantasist like Lotta. An agony uncle may also refer to another similar letter which he's answered and which he may well describe.
Its worth trying try bringing up the subject at work or with the wife if she doesn't already know your special interest, try telling them about an event at school when a girl was given a spanking by the Headmaster, and see how they react (finding a reason to bring it up is the hard bit). If they believe you chances are that that kind of thing wasn't uncommon at their school.

It may come as a surprise to our more gullible members but letters to Agony Aunts are very often written by journalists at the newspaper or magazine concerned.
As a rough guide to authenticity, the more interesting the letter the more likely it is to be an invention of the mag's features department.

Actually this story was repeated (or originated) word for word (including the obligatory "what do you think?") on the Channel 4 forum a few weeks ago for "That'll Teach 'em", the article originating from a JuliaW.
Unfortunately (!) the thread has now been deleted - wonder why!!
However Julia W still persists with her enquiries about CP.
I don't agree with Lotta that most if not all stuff is fiction - as has been mentioned here I do write CP fiction, and so can recognise all the classic signs - but this I'm I'm afraid has the hallmarks of fiction.

For those trusting/gullible souls amongst us why don't you tell us what those hallmarks are?

Actually it's still there, but it's on the 'school daze' section of the channel4 forum not the 'that I'll teach em'. If you read it it says didn't have corporal punishment at her school but her friend did. But if you read the 'that I'll teach em' forum the same poster describes corporal punishment at her school. This is obviously one of our members trying to provoke a non enthusiast into telling a similar tale and so getting a true account of corporal punishment, rather than the fantasy you tend to get on a spanking enthusiast site this this one where everyone has an agenda.
