No, not really, but on Hove Lawns (where Lady Heather is having a wee) passers-by are so occupied with avoiding the Zimmer frames and blocking out the noise of the howling hearing aids, that they don’t notice what else is happening.

There are various reasons why the status of Honorary Life Member may be conferred. Fakery or worse are not among them.

My very sincere apologies Subscriptions Manager, both to yourself for burdening you with the need to post a correction, and to those individuals awarded the distinction of Honorary Life Membership, except of course Basil and Skraggs of Plymouth, whom I specifically excluded in my post referred to.
I have drawn quite unwarranted conclusions from too little evidence, which in the case of this estimable Forum with its ancient and time honoured, though seldom publicised, traditions is not a wise thing to do! And not a smiley in sight! Oops, sorry, well only one!

Paula Flowe (known here in Sussex as 'In Full' or 'Menstrual') is a woman who feels very deeply about things. Watch her at:
Hi Big John, looks like a case for American Way to me! What on earth is the significance of the bag over the head and why does she have to be filmed crouched at the bottom of some stairs? Very strange indeed!
I have been asked by the editors to write something in praise of Honorary Life Member, Paula 'Bathing Suit Areas' Flowe.
When people ask of me,
"With whom would you like to have a little go?"
I do not hesitate and answer,
"It has to be Paula 'Bathing Suit Areas' Flowe."
I know this is not much good, but don't write and tell me. You can't expect too much during the Credit Crunch.

Seeing I have been so honoured, an image from my photoalbum - of an historical reenactment event in the Guides that has always stuck with me.
I am the only one in the image whose face hasn't been fuzzed out.

A most interesting photograph Halfpenny, thank you for posting it. There are some things consequent upon this picture that I would like to discuss with you if you are willing to do so. As this may not be appropriate to this thread I will continue in your Naming a school - an experiment thread and take the liberty of linking to your picture from there. I hope that you will not object to this.

I hope no one minds but Im sure we all have times when we need to vent and this is my turn. To the Managers it was never my intention to turn this estimable Forum into an adult site so I hope no expects an apology. I was somewhat miffed for being taken to task for posting immodest tennis attire of girls from your side of the pond. I asked on my June 19th posting under Moonlightin thread. Keep in mind I am a relatively newbe (i.e. considerably less than a year posting here and as an honorary life member would intentionally bring harm to this estimable Forum that unbelievable I've been made an honorable life member.
National Lampoon 1975 Cover and now look how politically correct we are? What a change in ethos? I'm not sure if I'm pushing the envelope of the guardians of this esteem Forum. However familiar this drawing is I want to abide by the rules. Forgive me I am getting a bit off topic unless someone was spanked by a slide ruler.

We were quite happy for you to give the link to a photograph of a young lady on a lawn tennis court (Those Bathing Suit Areas in Full, July 5, 6.30pm) but you also wrote
Andy Roddick went down the American Way.
We were concerned that such a statement may encourage comments of an unsavoury nature.

Thanks For The Clarification

By American Way, I simply meant Roddick went down fighting, which considering the length and the quality of the match I thought few would disagree with. I also thought my comment was innocuous because the comment stood on its own merits and I was not casting aspersions upon players from other countries and least of all Andy Murray who played exceptionally well and brought honor to the United Kingdom. I do apologize for unwittingly inviting posters down any route that would bring dishonor to anyone here or cause avoidable trouble and regret straying so far off topic. The comment made by the person from computer corner who gave me a helping hand by showing me how to post links without changing the width of the screen led me to think it had something to do with wardrobe malfunctions by British female tennis afficianados.
Re: Computing Corner July 5 2009, 9:31 PM
This would have gone in the 'Those Bathing Suit Areas in Full' thread, but as that thread is now quite rightly locked, this seems as good as anywhere to post it.
American Way, I really am pleased to see that you have totally mastered the control of links and giving your own title thereto. However, please remember that the British Way is moderation in all things and that this is a family Forum! I don't want the Powers That Be in this estimable Forum to ban me from giving you, or anyone else, a helping hand with HTML in the future!

We should have made it clear at the outset that no criticism, direct or implied, was intended against you. We have on this Forum several effortlessly witty contributors who upon seeing the words Andy Roddick went down the American Way would be only too delighted to send in examples of their wit. I am unable to elucidate further on a family forum, but a Google search for "going down" may give you an idea of the level of corruption to which these people have sunk.
Somewhere on this board is a piece which gives another example of language differences between our countries. Over thirty years ago, someone produced an electronic bug that could be attached to a child. An alarm would sound if the child strayed too far. The device was marketed in the United States as Little Bugger. Such a name would not have been allowed in the United Kingdom at the time.

Hi American Way. My comments, which you have reproduced above, did indeed refer to 'wardrobe malfunctions by British female tennis afficianados' to quote your absolutely superb summary of the pictures!
However you must understand that I have absolutely no official capacity in this estimable Forum. I was simply protecting my own back by sending a message to the Powers That Be along the lines of:
Hey folks, I may be responsible for giving American Way some assistance with links but it's not my fault he's using his newfound expertise to post pictures, and links to them, that may scandalise and alarm the more elderly and staid members of this Happy Circle.
You must understand, American Way, that crossing the Powers That Be of this estimable Forum is never a good idea. The steel tracked wheels of their vengence may grind along slowly but they grind along exceeding sure! For that reason I always try to stay on the right side of them - well, most of the time anyway!
