Child abuse in the 1980's outside school CP.

Mike from Aus has done a little research.

Few people realise that, after 1987, certain sneaky schools got the parents to punish the children instead, once caning etc got the chop.

As you'll see from this photo, an horrifying level of child abuse subsequently erupted. Sorry to upset all my delicate friends, but.........................

Sorry, it IS vile!

Steve: A Sad Story.

Hi Steve, I hope you have a hankerchief handy when reading this sad tale. What you wrote was correct, there were definitely some cruel parents about and you would have thought the kids would have been better behaved, but not so.

It was class photo day-a Monday morning as I remember.
I had my very best school uniform on really looking forward to the group photo. Little did I know that every student in my class had misbehaved over the weekend. The parents resorted to giving them a similar hair style to those shown in the pic you posted. Oh by the way, I forgot to tell you that the parents were given those hairstyles for drink driving-the result of a court sentence for being found guilty of the offence.

So here I was, the only kid with a nice haircut, surrounded by all these Boofheads. The photographer refused to take the class photo because I was different to the rest and stuck out like a sore thumb. As a result of this little drama, my school photograph collection is incomplete.

I was also targeted by the other kids because I was the "one out", the non conformist and was accused of upsetting the photographer because I didn't have a Boofhead hairstyle.

No matter how hard I tried to explain that me having a hairstyle like the rest of my classmates was impossible, I was driven from the group.

Because of this forced solitary, I became a loner. Never again would I walk into a Barbershop and ask for my usual Crewcut. I have never been able to look at a person with a crewcut without reviving sad memories of my being made an outcast at school.

And in closing, should you be out in public and hear someone calling another person a "Boofhead" you can rest assured that this "Boofhead" is one of my old classmates!

Living in the land of the "Boofhead" was a terrible time for a Crewcut person like me. I often wanted to escape and stow away on the first available Cabbage boat leaving for England, but as luck would have it, we had a bad drought that year and no Cabbages were grown. And as we all know, babies are found under Cabbage leaves, so we had a zero population growth that year. It was a wonder I wasn't blamed for that too.
