Singer Lyndsey de Pauls upbringing

A few nites ago on the radio singer Lindsey de Paul
("Rock Bottom"1977 etc."Sugar Me")was interviewed in connection with
a anti mugging self defence project she is insitigating.
During the interview there was some tension.
James Whale jokingly suggested she "slap"and give his assistant
a "good slap"...he has previously made jocular reference to
"dominatrix"type activity after his show...
Then Lyndsay de Paul revealed that she had had a "difficult"upbringing
due to a "violent and critical father".
However no details were revealed.Does anyone know if they would be in her auto biography,if there is one?
One is left to imagine what "violence"occurred but judging from accounts
from a number of correspondents on here some sort of physical abuse
is being referred to here-perhaps beating or spanking of some sort?
Lyndsey de Paul was famous in the 1970s for her highly made up face
which was very coquettish her beauty spot and sophisticated flirtatious
erotic style.

Can't find any books about her at all.

If it hadn't been against my principals to spank any woman older than me, I'd have had her over me knee when in her prime.

But the opportunity never presented itself-possibly because I never even dated older women.

Or possibly because she found someone better!

Singer Lyndsey de Paul's upbringing

About 15 years ago she wrote a book called 'Taking Control.'
Nothing to do with domination, more to do with how to defend yourself. It seems a strange choice of subject for a female singer/songwriter. Perhaps there was something darker in her past which gave her the idea for the book.

Yes a mystery-cannot find any books.
Shes still at the taking control project.
During the 1970s although appearing as a unique individual
in fact a large sub section of 1970s women aged about 18-25
fell into the samestyle category.
China Doll outer-fragile inner with "issues"very much under wraps
and taboo.
Same for men.Like Gary Glitter and co.!
People were very constrained about talking about such things in those days
even found it too inhibiting to do so.
Did come across a oblique rumour that some sort of a biography/auto-biography
is "in the pipeline",perhaps well find out then?
