Slippering depicted in BeeGees film" Melody"

The early 1970s BeeGees film "Melody"is not a popular film
on BBC TV.
For a number of reasons.
1)Its a love and peace film on the side of unruly kids getting away with everything
2)It depicts kids running riot in huge gangs in the school as they do nowadays.
3)It succeeds in depicting paternal love between 2 pupils-something of a taboo
topic.
4)It portrays a slippering of the protaganist hero which the viewer is made to feel is unjust and cruel. The punishment is made more humiliating
by the girl the boy loves being present at the foot of the stairs
afterwards.
5)the film successfully portrays the cruelty and insensitivity of the
mob who bully and taunt during sports day the weaker pupils.
The whole thing is emotionalised to create sympathy for the
truanting kids who basically skip lessons to bunk off up west end
strip clubs.
At one point in the film the religious teacher demands
"does anyone know who Jesus'disciples were"?
Silence
he pleads in exasperated desperation"does anyone know who Jesus is?"
Again dearthly silence.
The bell goes.
the class stampede out.
Cut.
the film has made its point.

I presume this film exists in the same London in which there is a statue of Big Brother celebrating his victory over the East Asian Airplanes?

I am not convinced the BBC would not show melody for the reasons you suggest. I think films just go out of popularity then all of a sudden they appear again. There are so many channels on satellite these days that hopefully this classic film will be shown again. There are some classic scenes of London in that era and I suppose liking the bee gees might swing it lol. The clips on you tube are pretty good quality. Would love to get it on dvd.
