Sag Mir Wo Die Munchies Sind?May 24 2007 at 11:46 AM | Big Muncher |
| So sang Marlene Dietrich in the sixties, and the question is just as relevant today. A few years ago I was able to find at least one munch a week to attend. I travelled all over the country and would often leave at the break of day saying to my family, “Goodbye Quentin! Goodbye Pixie! I’m off to a munch in St. Albans and I don’t know when I shall be back, because some of these munchies can go for as long as twenty-five minutes, you know.”
Over the years I must have met hundreds of fat women at munchies, and didn’t they make me laugh! I remember asking one of them, “What kind of cakes do you like?” and she replied, “Big ones!” Then there was that bloke from the Home Counties (North) who kept going on about the fact that he was “sane, legal and honest”, but those who witnessed the unpleasantness at Basingstoke will confirm that is just not true. The other thing that I remember about him was that he was always scrounging drinks off people.
One of the features that I most liked about munchies was that a meet and greet service was available, at least it was at the majority of them, and if it wasn’t who cared? People just got on with it and munched ‘til the cows came home.
But all that is in the past, and nowadays it’s almost impossible to find a good munch anywhere. There are a few pretend munchies in places like Bradford and Norfolk, but they’re just not the same as those tits-out munchies of a few years ago, when this England was a better place and all was right in the wonderful world of munchies and munchers.

Were you sponsored to get as many mentions of the the word 'munch' or 'munchie' into a posting?
As somenone whose first language is English, it makes no sense whatsoever.
Could you please explain exactly what you are on about, so that we may have the benefit of you knowledge? |

A munch is a meeting of like-minded people in a vanilla environment. The idea of a munch is that people of all orientations and all levels of experience can meet in a safe environment with no pressure to have a drink, socialise and make contacts. There is no playing at a munch and absolutely everyone is welcome. Note that munches are free non profitable events.
A meet and greet service is in operation. There is a zero tolerance policy on nuisances to protect guests.
