Disciplinary dilema at work

July 1 2007 at 2:33 AM

Hello one and all! I was hoping for some advice mainly. I do have one or scholastic experiences to recall.
On this occaision i just need some feed back from readers with reagards to a situation i find my self in at my place of work.
i am a civil servant, although my job is classed as legal registrar.(i do not perform weddings and such )My main role can be describded as a librarian for mirriads of files. Any how, over the last couple of years there have been a lot of changes to my working practices due to various departments merging. we now have to cope with being descended upon by the standards committe twice a year. they make sure that all aspects of performance meet certain criteria set down by westminster.
they pay particular attention to the working of the staff disciplinary codes.
a couple of years ago the supervisors and managers could use common sense when it came to keeping their staff in line. Now though, they are forced to bring staff up on charges for the pettiest offences you could imagine.
My current problems stem from the fact that i had accumulated a number of complaints. from my colleauges, regarding regular use of foul language. My job is stressful, so in the privacy of registry i tend to eff and blind freeley when things go wrong. or i make a silly error. Now the word had come down from on high that staff conduct monitoring had established that there was the use of to much profanity from the court staff. with out my knowlege i had amassed sixteen complaints for swearing in eighteen months. i had not sworn at any particular individual. Just profanity in general conversation. well that was until the other day. when by my own admission i was quite rude to a senior court offical from another department. to my defense, i had been provoked into losing my cool by this annoying individual. A strong complaint was made to my superior, admin exec officer Ms W. she had been summonsed to the third floor, once their she had been read the riot act, by a person she loathes. so my boss was hopping mad.I had already approached Ms W and confessed to my sins. she assured me she was well aware of my provocation. just to make matters really easy for my self. i had snook onto the roof garden to have a quiet ciggerette. I knew full well that it was a no smoking zone. i was just really stressed out by the morning's events. well.. Ms W caught me and all hell was about to break loose! one hour before lunch Ms W placed me on a two day suspension. I had not as much recieved a harsh word said to me in my ten years of service. Now i already know that the offended party has called for me to be sacked. i genuinely believed i was finished. Ms W however hates being dictated to. and she can hardley afford to lose an experienced staff member.
I was called into work, i feared for the last time, on friday afternoon to see Ms W. she expressed her dissapointment in my change of attitude. she asked if i still wanted to keep my job? of course i said yes. i was gushing. i could have kissed her. those sentiments would be short lived. i had already refused to apologise to the old dragon who had helped me into this mess. Ms W said she had burned the midnight oil on thursday to arrange a suitable compromise. Ms W informed me that i had been ajudged by closed disciplinary panal to be guilty of gross insubordination. smoking in a no smoking zone conduct unbecoming an officer of the court. serious charges in any language. I should be sacked? However Ms W had a working lunch with Mrs M (the old dragon) and i have been offered the alternative of a private disciplnary action agreement, I had no idea what on earth that was. i wish i had never asked.
At this moment my suspension ends on monday. Ms W is taking a short holiday until next wednesday. I have three options:
1, Hand in my resignation
2, face a formal disciplinary tribunal
3, agree to be discplined in a disciplinary session conducted by Ms W. this session will involve recieving a form of corporal punishment in the prescence of Mrs M.
and yes i was stupid enough to ask for clarification on the last option.
If i agree to the third option Ms W will administer a traditional over the knee spanking. Mrs M has already told Ms W that will be a satisfactory conclusion for her.
this may appear ludicrous, but it is genuine. I should have been fired. some how Ms W has kept the wolves at bay. I know for certain, that under the current climate the out come of a tribunal would not be a positive one. So what on earth should i do?
Resign or swallow my pride and take a spanking!?
I have to give Ms W my response by noon on wednesday

Our Lotta may be able to give you a little advice here, methinks.

Dilema suggestion

Lisa, you firstly must realise that your post is going to earn you some ridicule by its content.

Having said that, lets look at the issues of swearing and smoking. You say you are aware of your own conduct and the policy on smoking in a non smoking area. You have also pointed to your job being stressful which has caused your erratic behaviour.

Have you not consulted your doctor about the stress issues you face at work and take sick leave? This would go toward a defence in your behaviour.

I would think a closed disciplinary hearing without involving you would not be policy but you need to check with your Personel department to find out what the procedure is.

Smoking on the roof can be explained in part by you doctor writing that you are suffering from stress.

If you are a member of the Public Service union, I would suggest you contact them also to find out what your rights are and what your departments obligation is regarding stress in the workplace. You should have also contacted your amnagers about your workload and had your concerns recorded.

I won't comment about your choices because of what I have written in regards to being ridiculed from other members on this board. All I am interested in is your work problem.

You probably may be able to put off you decision by telling your superiors that you are entitled to representation regarding disciplinary action.

Perhaps there are members on this board who work in the public service and may be of assistance to you more than I.

Judd.

As a civil servant I'm afraid I discover just one or two slight inaccuracies in your account - admin executive officer? No such grade.

Reviews by twice yearly select committees? Nonsense.

And this is without at all touching on the likelihood of anyone breaching Civil Service guidelines (which are never called Rules of Westminster, or whatever you called them)- Unions and mnagement are very hard on bullying and harassment. Instant dismissal.

And the fact that the whole story sounds a load of......

As a fellow Civil Servant, if I were you line manager, I would have little choice but to put you over my knee for your lousy spelling!

Provided you were attractive enough to merit it, of course!

In the meantime, I suggest you complain to HR about these two women-equal opps.

They have failed to offer the chance to spank you to a male.

That will mean your HR dept. tied up in knots for months & if you care to post a picture, we'll sort out the CP here!

Prudes

First uncontrolled swearing is actually classified as a psychological disease-some syndrom or other so if thats the case you should be due a lot of redress at any tribunal being incvalided out on medical grounds.Cant imagine they could find any post for you in your condition.
Second swearing in young ladies as I have expounded before can be very erotic partuclalrly if it happens as a cane whistles down across their bare backside.
Thirdly the Civil service junior dead end posts are enought t make anyone swear.
Fourthly the civil service types especially in London are a bunch of stuffed up prudes full of neuroticism and paranoia shennagins and nonsense with their "secrets"and "plastic briefcases"signyfying rank.
If I was you id get shot of these dopeheads sooner rather than later and leave with a huge payout and a great big fancy case.
The complaints are probably more office politics and attempts to remove you due to feared cutbacks on the cheap by cliques and cabals within your office.
Watch these slimy bastards. My cousin experienced the same backstabbing in local govt offices. And it would be very interesting to know how many 10,000s have been sacked as not suitebale in such a fashion. Its what used to be known as constructive dissmissal
I know graduates who left the civil service in disgrace and never looked back.
the real commercial world is far more rewarding and profitable
than worrying about these idiots each day!
LEAVE!

The Solution

July 2 2007, 12:17 AM

Give in your notice, get yourself over here , take over my job so I can think about retiring.

You can eff and blind as much as you like, the foreign speakers you'll sit next to you won’t know what you are saying.

Smoking ban doesn’t apply here, well not until next March so you can puff to your hearts content. Sorry no roof garden, but Panoramic views

Ms W can end up giving Mrs M the spanking news that you have left for ventures new, and needs to find some other poor sole to harass and pick on.

Your appointment will be subject that you can paragraph, with double line spacing, something you seem incapable of doing, but we can train.

The golden rules will apply:-

Never walk without a document in your hands
Use computers to look busy
Keep a Messy desk
Remain in Voice mail
Look impatient and annoyed
Creative sighing for effect
Pile loads of books on desk and floor
Build vocabulary of useless information
Mine is white with one sugar

You have till Thursday to make up your mind then I’m off Jetting around.

In response

July 2 2007, 12:56 PM

I would just like to thank everyone who responded to my post.
I would like to apologise for any offence that i caused to any fellow civil servants who read my first entry. I was under the impression that the forum was for persons who have an interest in CP and similar topics.
I quite wrongly assumed that this forum was for such people with those interests exclusively. I have to state for the record that my likes and dislikes are based around the practice of CP/spanking between like minded conscenting adults.
Although my interest started to peak after i had finished school.
I have to say a big thank you to all who responded and offered me some excellent advice. And yes my spelling and double line spacing are poor. I am new to this site so i am still trying to get to grips with how to post photo's and such like.
I am intrieged by Steve M's suggestion. And Ketta thank you for the Job offer that made me smile( a lot )
All my problems at work are of my own making. there is plenty of bitching and back stabbing that goes on. I try and steer well clear. I have my freinds there, Ms W happens to be one of them.
She has saved my skin more than once. i am just dreading when she will have to throw the book, as the saying goes.
well that about sums up all i have to say right now. so TTFN

LOTTA DOSH (Finances/Claims Ltd)

DO YOU REALLY THINK YOUR FRIENDLY STAFF CAN HELP !!!

I am really distressed that Lisa Maria has declined my offer of a job , I dread going into work myself and don’t know how much longer I can continue. Every month I get severely spanked by the tax man, it brings tears to my eyes. I don’t think he should be persecuting me like this, The harder I work, the harder I get spanked, I’ve tried complaining, he says, it’s not a position he likes seeing me in ,( I have my doubts) but should be grateful to reap the benefits, I’ve yet to find out what these are. I feel very sore over this whole experience.

Dear Ms Ketta

We would normally be delighted to welcome you as a worthy and highly valued client to our friendly web (that should read website, my apologies). The problem is that we have so many good folk on our books who are regularly spanked by the taxman that your case may be held in a queue and my gestimate is that it would be approx Febuary 2176 before we could guarantee you taking HM Inland Rev to Court.

Yours sincerely

as the government department is now called HM Revenue & Customs the person offering to assist with our frieds problem needs to be punished for giving false information.

Any Takers?

Just get over it.

Surprising that a government officer is being threatened by CP.

You have a choice:
1. If your case is strong, fight it out openly.
2. otherwise, get over by getting the spanking you obviously need so badly.

your aol name

Hello Lisa.
I have used this name as it is part of your AOL thing!

I note from the link to your EMail that you "8" sheep. Is this a personal thing or have I stumbled upon a secret passion?

Here in our village we have a Yearly Sheep Fair, this involves all sorts of pagan rituals regarding sheep. But alas no baring of young firm bottoms for spanking and flogging in the village square.
Just thought I would mention this.
