Does anyone know if either the "Whack-O!" series or the feature film "Bottoms Up" with Jimmy Edwards is available on DVD in the UK produced by a reputable company and available for U.S. shipment?

I have tried Amazon UK but neither are listed.

Thanks.

I don't know if this will help you or not, but the series was shown here on the ABC. The ABC has shops which sell DVD's, Video's and books. I realise it isn't in the UK, but it may be worth a try. Don't shoot the messenger, just trying to help.

It may be on video which you may be able to rent and then record onto DVD if you have the equipment, as another option.

I'm sure I saw it once at the ABC bookshop a long time ago.

Below is a link to try. They do mail order to other countries. With a series of this age it is doubtful it will be on DVD but you never know.

As this link shows - 63 episodes were made but few survived the vaults of the BBC

Mike f O, thanks for trying. I checked ABC and came up short. I actually have a copy of "Bottoms Up" that I purchased online from a source in the UK thinking it would be a bona fide copy. It turned out to be something that apparently was copied when it was shown on TV and the quality was quite poor even before I had to dub it from a PAL standard to NTSC.

skoolcane, it really is a shame that the series was lost. Thanks for the information and the link.

And I was under the impression that Headboy wanted to discuss serious issues and all the time he's a one handed typist! Well, we live and learn.

There are a couple of listings on Ebay

As the film is so old and now in the Public Domain i am able to sell copies made from my private collection. This is a top quality video to dvd transfer. The dvd comes with a photo printed case and photo printed disc on DVD-R the same as the picture in the top of my listing and should play on all dvd players.

This guy claims to give refunds auction closing 22.23BST today cheap enough to take a chance

I have no dealings or have never traded with this source so cannot recommend. There are a couple of others

Get on e-bay!

No, I'm not selling it, but several people are selling the film on DVD at least.

Quite how somebody on there classifies it as FAMILY entertainment is beyond me, but there you go.

Also, I'm pleased to report inputting Whack-O produced not one item about a well-known entertainer b Gary,Indiana 1958!

I'm old enough to remember the bloody series. Wonder if they'd get away with the flaggelatory implications these days?

Possibly;after all, it shouldn't offend Islam, which is very much into CP for everyone, or at least those with sufficient body parts left to chastise, as per Koran.

Hey Danny, I am thinking of two words. Can you guess what they are? Speaking of obsessions, has taking shots at me become one of yours as an alternative to trying to learn to debate effectively? Ah, I guess one does what one is capable of doing.

Ketta et al.: I already have "Bottoms Up" from a source that sounds suspiciously like the one your suggest on ebay. The advertisement for that copy also suggested a fine copy of this public domain film. Again it's that difference between fantasy and reality. Let the buyer beware. That is why I was hoping that the film or the series might be available through a recognized, business source.

Paul at SFR sells copies of the film, but I don't know who you got the previous version from, so I can't vouch for the quality of this one.

I ordered my copy through a site called British Discipline. I have sent off an email to the people at sfr asking some questions about the source of the material and if it is a DVD+/-R copy rather than a commercially produced DVD. Shipping costs, if they even will ship to the U.S., is another factor.

Thanks for the source, though.
