The above title is not a statement about this forum, but rather a comment on my last two posts about my two primary school experiences with the cane. Do you consider them boring?

Well Peter, commenting on one of your posts:

I can't blame you for what actually happened. I blame your school and your headmistress. Now for me it would have been far from boring if

a. instead of a caning on the hands, your bare bum had been the target of the assault, and;

b. instead of a cane, you had been draped over her lap for a dose of the plimsole.

This story I would definitely not have found boring.

Peter, not boring. Beleivable accounts of what went on in those times.
6 seemed excessive as a first offence. Do you think it was so severe to deter in one go as it were.
I can only guess that the cane was thin and swishy, certainly not GLC issue ie 36" x 3/8"?

For my next dose of the cane I was part of a larger group of fifteen boys and about five or six girls who were caned for the great school fruit fight of 1980. We were called from class in groups of five and had to wait outside Mrs Joss' office she came out announced why we had been called out and we each had to give a name of someone else involved. The initial group had been caught by the teachers on duty and they had tattled on us.
We were called in individually and had to wait outside her office with our hands on head and nose to the wall. I was third in line to be caned and Mrs Joss gave us the full six on our right hands. I was close to tears and had red eyes, fortunately for me she failed to observe that I wore my watch on my right hand indicating that I am left handed so I didn't have the troubles writing for the rest of the day that the other boys had. The girls were caned as well, we didn't see this, they received two strokes on each hand. In addition to the cane we were out on a week of after school detention, a letter was sent home. My parents were not happy but my father felt that the punishment from the school was sufficient and I wasn't punished by him.
