Going over an old photo it comes back
as a small lad in a very big skool full of very tall prefects and lads
i must have felt somewhat like oliver,
the school had over 700 pupils all boyz.
it had 43 male teeches
there was one year(1970) 1 woman teech(first ever) and 1 pupil with anything resembling a coloured skin.the year was in 1969.he was the only coloured pupil ever at the school up until then!
in 1970 he had vanished and the school had no more coloured pupils throughout the 1970s.
the woman teech stayed .she is the only one ever in any school photo.
It stayed that way until the end of the 1970s.
some of the teeches were thugs.they needed to be.1969 was the year of youth rebellion
many of the olderboys were 6'tall.
the bullying came in the main from pupils in the same year as you,
the prefects and older boys abve you did not even talk to you or acknowledge your existence let alone bully you.
there were about 6 hard core bullies in my year and 6 hangers on.,
they were unhappy kids from broken homes or with homo sexual hang ups.
some were really disturbed i guess.
there were many comings and goings of pupils each year.
few made it all the way through the 8 years.
everyone was an individual with their own problems.
it was really brave to go into a place like that Ill tell you!
