Katie Breathwick discusses smacking on LBCFebruary 17 2008 at 1:07 PM | Bozo |
| - Another radio talk show another on air debate surrounding "smacking"
Ho Hum.London Broadcasting Company broadcasting to 6 millions in London.
This one was on Sunday betwixt the hours of 11.00am-12.00am.
Presented largely by a new Presenter (previously a travel annopuncer or junior news announcer?)"Katie Breathwick."
(I dont seek out these people-I have a little transistor radio and when I switch it on they are just "there")
The debate began with Ms.Breathwick belabouring the pro smacking point-not for want of trying she must have mentioned smacking about 100 times in 10 minutes then desperately inviting calls.
She was aided by a mysterious man who didnt speak much but informed us that he was an ex Catholic school pupil who had been thrashed strapped and belted, chucking in a few jokes about bare bottoms and books down trousers for good measure.
As there was a lull in calls Ms.Breathwick then went on to inform us that at age 3 she had not gone back to her cot and as a consequence had been beaten black and blue by her mother.
(I have failed to find a photo of Ms.Breathwick on LBC Presenter site of anyplace else as she appears to be"new" just recently promoted to 3 hour presenter from a minor job.
Ketta???
The first call was from a gruff Anglo Carribean resident who admitted to "smacking his 6 year old son "with his finger"whilst trying to get his trousers on",
then came a 70 year old East European Lady who could hardly speak English but agreed that children were badly behaved.
Ms.Breathwick then told us that texts and calls were coming in "thick and fast"however only a couple more calls were to follow-of low standard and thin on details unfortunately.
(I do not text because you pay and once they get your number they bombard you with unwanted publicity texts costing more to open and jamming up your text mailbox-you then have to jump through hoops to get the number deleted)
Next a man who sounded remarkably like Sir Larry who claimed to have been thrashed by prefects at school and to have belted his offspring with a belt for not turning off the TV.He concluded by stating that it had never done him any harm.
Ms.Breathwick continued to expound smacking, smacking and more smacking never deviating.
Then a text from a woman who claimed her son was more afraid of having his underpants hung on the washing line in sight of the neighbours than anything else.
"tap on the back of the legs","Mark"(not marks)
But alas no mention of "Spanking""Hairbrushes"or "Bare Buttocks"
A rather safe and sanitised debate.
As is usual despite trailer billing promising a 3 hour show the debate then turned to the issue of whether boys ought to dress up as girls in ballet skirts with Ms.Breathwicks young son as prime role model.
At which point I turned off.I was dissapointed and agree with the man who rang up to sya these shows were nothing but rubbish every morning.
I had been expectinga cool suave 40 something Governess/Nanny to call in
in a pretty coquestish voice telling us how she always smacked strictly bare bottom and frequently in the Chelsea apartment but as usual we got a right rubbish bin of calls!

Good comments and observations as usual from Bozo.
I have noticed that even the BBC on morning News 24,invite comments by phone-fax-text etc. on what I consider important items and when after a short (well long drawn out sports report explaining how goals were scored or not the previous night) a few sheets of paper are flapped about and some tight skirted female states that they are being flooded by viewers feedback. After reading two they switch to the next report on some drug taking 'Pop' singer for half an hour.
Channel 5 is as bad, the Wright Stuff show every morning also cuts short any viewer calls that may enlighten the pubic on how we are being Conned or led like lambs to slaughter by MPs and the City.
Regarding smacking and CP I believe that parents and teachers should have the right to deal with bad behaviour and manners in a formal and structured way. Surely we have plenty of spy cameras and 'clipper board' snoopers about to see that it is not excessive.
STOP PRESS:Just watched Natasha Plinkplonk or some other girl telling me that Channel 5 News will be now how I like it, and changing!! What exactly does this new 'sound bite-changing' mean?? |
