The Kids clown found out the hard way.Bayswater-Notting Hill-Paddington station.One of lonliest souless areas in the world.Always has been.I can remmber the intense feeling of depression one Christmas in a little bedsit in Bayswater.All around me heroin addicts,prostitutes,Arabs.A cold hateful world where no body cared.This was the environs in which BBC guy Speight chose to end his celebrity existence by hanging(?) himself from the girders of Paddington Station roof (according to Steve Allen Radio D,J.).A truly bizarre image a dangling clown in full view of 10,000s commuters making their way home to the West Country!His last performence.You can almost imagine them clapping.What drew the authorities to his body undiscovered for 6 days?Perhaps a bad smell?Perhaps pigeons or vultures causing a flap?How can anyone be undetected there for 6 days?Do vagrants and winos sleep "up there"undisturbed?There in Pinters Waiting for Godot land?Where the old war hero of Ralph McTells streets of London sips one more cup of tea then wanders home alone?
The female radio presenters were all choked up this morning.
