We were astounded to witness a spanking in the new hopeful Mike Leigh UK film Happy Go Lukcy starring Sally Hawkins who appears in her tights and underwear in the film getting a massage from a large BLack Man in Camden Town.
Sally is a goofy 30 year old teech at primary school who is more like the class clown than a proper teech.
She loses all sympathy in the first 10 minutes of the film where contrary to the charmingly dotty trailer she larks around in a crude way with her clubbing girlsfriends sharing a flat in camden town,making silly noises and getting pissed.
one of the girls catches her bending over and slaps her bottom with a slipper,Sally (Poppy)repiles (OOOOO Id like more of that)!!!
the film degenerates into the story of her attachment to a male social worker who has been called in to investigate the suspected violent abuse of one of her pupils by a live in boy friend called jason.social workwer guy gives her her phone number and soon they are in bed at the sws priveleged stalinist flat in cam town.
then the nutty conspiracy driving instructor goes nuts and breaks up with sally as he cant teach her-she keeps messing about.
the film ends with her and her girls friend(who we are inferred is a lesbian)both paddling their own boat on a pond in the park.This secene looks very sinister and not very happy.
The films leaves loose ends.
Is Poppy bi sexual or just a spinster?
Why did Scott the driving teech lie about stalking Poppy and come out with a sex tirade at the end against black people and liberals?
This films is Whats it all about Alfie,The Liver Birds and 60 kitchen sink all updated for the 2000s.the angry characters ae shown leading meaningless existences in a plasticised stalinist new labour sterile environement.
Tacky clothes,horrible jewellery,weal humour,cringing social commentary but fun
