Six Years On

The Curse of Brian

-
As we approach the sixth anniversary of the founding of this Forum, it is very pleasing to recall that two of the founding members, Retired Headmaster George and mimi are still writing for us, having stayed throughout the good times, the bad times, the lean years and all the in-between years.

Sadly, one of our most valued contributors disappeared during the year. She latterly wrote under the name of ‘Lotta Nonsense’ but used others in the early days of the Forum. There is some archive material, written by her and hitherto unpublished here, which may soon be made available as a tribute to a greatly missed contributor.

Brian, some people won't agree with you about Lottanonsense but I am not one of them. I visited this board for years before I became a member and I'm sorry I left it so late to do so.

My view of Lotta is one of admiration in the sense that Lotta stood up and challenged certain people who live in the relms of unhealthy fantasy. It's a wonder this board hasn't been closed down with some of the content posted on it.

Some of the posts here make me sick when I read them. I feel that the board has strayed away from its original intent which is rather sad.

If people wish to write fantasy then they need to look at story boards to post on. I believe the quality of this forum has dropped over the years and it is becoming an unhealthy place for people with certain persuasions.

I for one rue the day Lotta disappeared from this forum because we had someone who wasn't frightened to post their beliefs. Lotta was hounded by narrow minded insignificant morons who's only pleasure in life revolves around fantasy and little boys.

Gone are the true accounts of people who had legitimate stories of their school like and the harsh realities they endured. Now we have people trying to pretend they are something that in reality they are not and the are getting away with it.

People are entitled to their opinions as was Lotta and if anyone here wants respect, they should remember that respect is earned. It is not an entitlement. Granted, sometimes Lotta did go a little overboard but at least there was food for thought in Lotta's posts and Lotta said what a lot of us thought but did not have the fortute of our convictions to say.

Free speech is a way of like in Western countries but it isn't here. We all need to sit back and think about what we say to others. Insulting people has only succeeded in driving away a lot of good members here.

This board needs to enforce respect amongst members before it goes the way of the Dinasours.

Finally, I offer this advice. You may disagree with what someone may say but disagree respectfully. You can share your view without being arrogant and rude.

To members such as Ketta, Mimi and Steve M, Big John and Mike from Oz to mention but a few, and also to Bozo who contributes on a regular basis making this forum a little more pleasant. I thank you for your constructive posts and respectful replies and I hope you continue to provide us with informative and interesting posts in the future.

Thank you, A concerned Member, for sending in your thoughts about our Happy Circle. It is always useful to receive feedback such as this.

It would be helpful if you were to enlarge upon some of the points you made. Could you give examples of the posts that make you sick when you read them? Which writers are showing lack of respect towards others?

To be up there with the likes of George is an honour indeed.
I really wonder what happened to the old stalwarts?

I think Concerned Member has a point. We have veered from factual
School Corporal Punishment posts to unhealthy fantasy posts of
boys being caned on their bare bottoms. Or caned at home fifteen
or more strokes.
This is pure fantasy as only a very small minority of public schools
used this method and I've never heard of it being used in state
schools.
And receiving the number of strokes of the cane some posts would
have us believe is all in their minds. I received the cane at home
once, seven strokes and I thought I was going to die.
So Concerned Member you are not alone with your thoughts.

My concern is that since Lotta left us not only has some of the fun gone out of the forum.

We also have some posters trading on what most of what us older people know went on in the 50's and 60's ie more widespread use of CP by teachers & parents and its' acceptance by us, the victims. There's getting to be too much trading on it to produce preposterous stories that promote something too close to paedophilia for my liking.

We've all got our fantasies, some of them witty, some of them informative, and quite a few of them very welcome. Whether they are one, two, all or none of those, let's keep fact and fantasy clearly demarcated.

And if this sounds a bit formal and even deadly serious from the likes of me, it's bloody well meant to be this once!

I apologise I haven't replied sooner on this issue Research Assistant but I don't feel the need to enlarge on my post as other members have said in their post what I would have.

In reply to Mimi's question of wondering where the stalwarts went? Mimi, no disrespect intended, but I think you already know this answer. They have been driven away by certain people Steve M and Paul have referred to in their replies to this thread.

I must say I agree with them whole heartedly. There have been posts from members describing their own experiences without any sexual inuendo's. The posts have been factual and worthy of discussion. However, as of late we seem to be flooded with stories from people who deal in the relms of fantasy. These people seem to thrive on pretending to be ex teachers and Headmaster's and all to willing to relate tales invented when sitting at a computer keyboard. Anyone can hide behind a computer and pretend to be someone they are not. These people are seriously lacking in the reality department.

I have read posts from people dating back to when this board started, and all I can say is that the board is not as it once was. I believe this board should be monitored more closley to prevent it being taken over by fantasists and Paedophiles who lurk in the shadows of cyberspace. These people need to realise that they are not fooling any decent members on this board.

Yahoo faced a similar problem in their groups and started to monitor content and deleting unsavoury groups. Because of this action by Yahoo, these people have been forced to look elsewhere for their twisted entertainment.

If this forum continues to attract these unsavoury types to it then it is only a matter of time before it disappears altogether.

I hope this won't happen because there are some genuine people here who will be punished because of the deeds of others.

It was a happy circle, once. It may be again if its cleaned up. Get rid of the unwanted element and poerhaps the stalwarts will return.

Let these deviates start a fantasy group to cater to their own needs and leave us genuine people alone.

Writing as J 6 years ago I recounted my humble experience quite truthfully and was on more than one occasion quite p***ed of by doubtfull critisiscm.
Having returned after a period away due to personal problems I started to repost on the basis that some contributors were quite pleasant to "chat" to.
Its a pity that school CP can be associated with the dreaded P word due to seriously perverted people.
In reality CP was a day to day occourance which possibly had little to do with abuse and plenty to do with maintaining discipline.
As for the fetish aspect, lots of Spankos I have met had none or little CP at home or school.
Of course its only my experience and may not be representative, unless others contribute then we will not know.
Perhaps some people were scared of by the "Noncewatch" type loonies? who knows.

MIMI

Youse hit the nail there, mate!

It was a flamin' daily occurrence out here as well. Not so much in homes, though, unless you were down our way in Adelaide & the first stopping-place for a lot of the £10 Poms!

As you may know, I dished the flamin' thing out to juvos on behalf of the state. I did it, as it was part of my job. Lookin' back, it may or may not have done me or the recipients a bit of good.

But I can say there's one good reason I've never recounted the actual corporal punishments here. They were routine, they were business, they were what was expected.

But, all the joking aside I've done, I never felt roused by it. I sure didn't then, and I bloody well don't now. I oughta say the grog consumption beforehand by yours truly was a bit increased, but nothing like afterwards!

I think, readin' back, youse lot are losing some of the wit and humour of even 2 years ago, though you, Mimi, are one of those doin' their level best to keep it light n' fascinating. Don't give up, mate!

I haveta say I agree with Steve M. There's a thin line between people exorcising their own past demons, and people shoving their buggery fantasies into what they either wished to do, or heard went on.

Right, that's enough from the land of Crows;I just wish we could ship the bum-bandits out to a nice little island somewhere.

It doesn't even haveta be in the nuclear testing zone, honest!
