The aging roué Sir Harcourt Courtly believes himself to be a fine catch for the ingénue heiress Grace, niece of his good friend Max Harkaway. The splendidly named LADY GAY SPANKER recognises that the only way to stop this marriage is to flirt outrageously with Sir Harcourt distracting him from his mission. Meanwhile Grace has fallen for his son. In a maelstrom of money, madness, manners and mayhem, a duel is fought and true love conquers all.

This witty and stylish romantic comedy of misunderstandings and mistaken identity inspired the work of Oscar Wilde and a generation of aesthetes.
