What do you think of corporal punishment? Did you experience the cane at school? Did you teach in schools while it was still legal? Have you dispensed corporal punishment yourself? If so, The TES would like to hear from you for an article looking at the legacy of the abolition of corporal punishment. Over 20 years after it was finally banned in both private and state schools, views on the cane remain deeply divided. Was abolition a victory for human rights or a recipe for classroom chaos? Email me at madeleine.brettingham@tes.co.uk or phone 020 3194 3295 and let us know your views.
"Was abolition a victory for human rights or a recipe for classroom chaos?" asks Madeleine.
On the face of it, it seems a reasonable question but our brighter and/or better-educated members will see immediately that it steers readers towards a choice between only two responses where there are in fact four.
Some people will say it was a victory for human rights.
Some will say it was recipe for classroom chaos.
Some will say it was neither.
Some (including my good self) will say it was both.

Lotta has merely stated the obvious. Not dificult when commenting on anything based on something spoken by anyone in edjakashun. Just about sums it up.
