"His Lordship"September 17 2008 at 8:13 PM | Bozo |
| Anyone remember those lurid sexy paperback novels of the early 1970s like "His Lordship"-its so long ago I cant recall the author-
They used to feature risque schoolgirls and it was akll about a bloke who used to spy on school playing fields with binoculars looking for holes
in girls P.E.Knickers!?
Ha the permissive society!
Unbelievable that W,H,Smiths sold millions of these in todays climate!

Google confirms that you are absolutely correct Bozo.
Here is a link to an Amazon UK page with a brief description of the book.
Should you wish to obtain a copy it is apparently available as a paperback from sellers on abebooks for under £2, see the link here which also includes a picture. |

I remember the rather attractive cover picture.
A quote as I recall " If you were a boy in my old boys school you would receive 6 of the best " The girl replies " why don't you try me sir"
O'er Missus gulp...... |

That's a terrible thing you've done Bozo. Mentioning green knickers when you know a man of my predilictions is reading the thread is totally beyond the pale! I shall now have to find a copy of the relevant Pan edition somewhere. They'd better turn out to be green though, and not the alternative blue you mention, or it's no more helpful postings in your threads!
Seriously: There appear to have been 4 editions of the book. The picture in my link above is, I think, the front cover of the original 1970 hardback edition, published by Michael Joseph. There were then two paperback Pan editions, in 1972 and 1976, and a final hardback edition in 1996 published by Methuen.
Despite scouring the search engines I cannot find the cover picture from either paperback edition. I am sure that one of the web search experts who have surpassed my puny search efforts in the past will rapidly provide the links I've overlooked. That's a challenge folks! |

Damn. I left the book in Blighty. Softback prob 1st edition.
The girl has hair in bunches, short blue skirt, with knickers sticking out ( green I think) green over knee socks and hockey boots. For some reason it sticks in the memory he he he |

Well done Mimi! How on earth did I overlook that? Sadly the item of sportswear in question does not appear to be the bottle green required to trigger my interest, but anyway here is the picture in question. It will disappear, to be replaced by the red cross in the little square, when the vendor removes it from eBay.

In actual fact the gym knickers are bottle green. They just don't show up well in the picture.
From the Arrrgghhh I am not sure as to wether you were desperately turned on or desperately turned off by such a discription?
My lady friend tells me her camogie ( hockey) dress from 11-30+ was as this picture. Socks sans the white bit and skirt green rather than blue.
On the odd occasion she has a trip down memory lane in reality, I have to suffer such things on occasion. |

Hi Mimi. The Arrragh! was a strangled cry of rage at the fact you'd left the book over here and thus couldn't scan the cover for me! What brought me to this estimable Forum (and is documented elsewhere in the forum) is inextricably tangled up with bottle green gym knickers, and not worn by me I hasten to add!
Thank you for your assurances that said knickers in the picture are indeed bottle green. I may bid, although as always where books are concerned on eBay now the postage appears extortionate. Still, one must be prepared to suffer for ones fetishes! I'm probably too late though, as the item is now under offer - wonder if it's anyone from here? |

Well done all!A big round of applause! But sadly not as big a round bum as memory had elaborated.
However surpisingly I was right t'was Pan.
This book was in all the rack browsers from our village shop to W.H.Smiths and Sons Ltd.and most inbetween.
Needless to say it drew atttention mainly from the local feral Public School youths in their "dinner"hour whilst munching chips.
The photo was then indistinguishable from similiar ones appearing
in small A5 sized "top shelf"publications.
If t'was exhibited today no doubt the Womens League of Local Decency would have it removed in a Jiffy for encouraging something or other! |
