If CP is ever returned to Schools more detailed punishment books will have to be kept.
The old 4 strokes for insubordination with the date is NOT enough!
I recall an anonymous letter years ago in a magazine on the subject
that stated that an old school punishment book had been found by builders.
One entry alledgedly read:
"4 strokes administered to Miss Jolly.Struggled so much that her knickers were ripped and had to be replaced at the cost of 3s and 4d"
Or somesuch.
Whether this is genuine or not is anybodys'guess.
However such detail is memorable for some reason.
Possible entries might read along the lines of ?
"Six of the best administered on bare backside.Weather thunderstorms.Took it rather poorly.A lot of crying.Bottom was unmarked initially.Very velevetoon condition indicating good nutrition and able to withstand beating.Six welts.Bottom was kept bare for 15 minutes for welts to be checked.Tendency to goose pimple making welt discernment a smiggenette more difficult.School secretary called in to confirm punishment had been carried out.Stayed 2 minutes. Was alllowed to pull up own pants.Silent on leaving.Punishment appeared effective.Time will tell.First such punishment of this recalcitrant."
