Mr Mimi said behave yourself and it never happened-!!!!!!!!

But it did-anyone else reckon it was just wot goes around comes around for all the bits you got away with?

I got it twice for sumthing I never did-them two times anyhow!

SOOOZE

The one time I got it at Grammar I was mug enough to admit I'd been smoking on the bus on the way home.

I never made the same mistake again and became a practised liar-that's probably how I ended up in the Civil Service!

Didn't deter me at all, but I have to say if I had been clobbered for all I did do I'd have been in there every week from 4th form onwards.

IMHO a significant proportion of whackings when I was at school were, as in Voltaire's interpretation of the execution of the unfortunate Admiral Byng, 'pour encourager les autres, hence the frequency with which they were given in front of the class.

I can't comment for myself, 'cos I was a very good little lad and very seldom got whacked caught. happy.gif However, doubtless the unfortunate boys and girls who were so dealt with for the benefit of their classmates comforted themselves with the philosophy postulated by soooze. I know I did in adult life for my one and only traffic offence. I didn't cross that double white line, but I figured it could have been worse, I might have been got for all the other naughty things I had actually done in my driving career!

I did not attend a "comp" as you called it but a private girls school.
There were a few occasions that I had to visit the front desk on mere suspicion. Our gym mistress did not need overwhelming evidence to leave her hand prints on the back of our thighs. However I will admit that I also got away with a fair bit too. On balance I think was ahead of the game.

The most probable reason Kids admitted their sin's to a teacher
was because that teacher already knew they were guilty and if they
lied they would most likely get a much harder whacking.
The two occasions I was whacked that was my line of though before-hand.

I was extremely well behaved at school, so hardly ever visited the front desk. However, the same cannot be said for some of my class mates. But usually if you confessed your sins and gave a sincere apology, Miss was relatively lenient with you.
