All sorts of people and religious groups have twisted the word of the gospels to seem to conform to and to confirm whatever agenda that indiviual or group hold close to their heart.

Read the gospels (in case you're confused as to which part of the Bible constitues the gospels, they are the four first-person narrative accounts of the life and times of Jesus written by Matthew, Mark, Luke and John in the New Testament - not to be confused with the Old Testament, in which all sorts of depravity and tomfoolery are espoused, from vengeful cruelty to murder to killing your own son because you think god himself ordered you to do it.)

I was ridiculing and not agreeing with them. Youre reading of the Old Testament is OTT. But to keep it on topic Mary would spank you for that.

By my previous posting you should know I was ridiculing and not agreeing with them about spanking Jesus. Christian school policies involving saving souls and not helping them learn. Surprisingly there answer to the question on SCP is spot on. Try this link and they have an answer for everything. Even a broken clock is right twice a day.

If they told me that story in Church, I'd still be going.

I don't know if Jesus would spank a child, though he would certainly cut off a soldiers ear and use a whip on money changers.

But he was himself spanked as a child according to the old carol "The Bitter Withy":

1. As it fell out on a holy day,

If He might go play at ball.
