Is frowning a form of corporal punishment?

I was a senior student at a very exclusive and prestigious private girls school in Yorkshire. Our English teacher, a tall striking blond woman, would give the most severe frowning to any girl that misbehaved in class.

This teacher had very distinct eyebrows and a steely look that would reduce even the most impish of trout to a sobbing and quivering jelly within a few seconds. I once ran out of the class sobbing uncontrollably after she gave me a very thorough frowning one day. Would this be considered corporal punishment and be in breach of the relevant European conventions?

Yes Emily, that is a very interesting question. However I think the answer is above my pay scale. I might handball that one over to the more erudite members of the forum. No doubt they will have a very learned opinion on the subject.

Emily/Amelia,

Don't be so silly.
