I'm afraid that you, or rather the 'School Sanctions' publication, have made me very sad
Ketta. I had no idea that this sort of thing was prevelent in the UK. What has become of an individual Teacher's or Headteacher's ability to assess a disciplinary situation and apply a sanction appropriate to an individual pupil without recourse to matrices, handbooks etc? How did schools in my era manage without this sort of thing and yet maintain a disciplinary situation virtually all of today's schools would envy?
Anyone wishing to respond to the latter question may find that copying and pasting the last two words from the title of this esteemed Forum at the head of the index page saves typing! Oh, and having a Teaching Profession that didn't contain individuals who thought making a child remove his shoes was a severe and humiliating punishment probably helped as well!
