Hi I have an Audi A3T (2001) with 77000km on. Bought it about 6 months ago, so it still has a motorplan on it. What I would like to know is, would you guys recommend chipping etc. while the car is still under it's motorplan, or should one wait until it's not covered anymore ?

Secondly, what would the best upgrade be ... I have had a look at the Unichip, and see that it comes quite highly rated. I have been quoted R5000 for install of it, is this expensive ?

Thanks

R5000 for the unichip, that is very expensive, you could get other serial port chips for cheaper and they are "not traceable", because you don't need to tamper with the ECU or cut wires etc..

R5000 for a Unichip??? They are mad!!

Rather get a serial port as Wild said....completely reversable and no wire cutting

Tuning-Concept did mine for R4000 and I'm very happy with the results
I would suggest to wait until the motorplan is finished......you've only got the 90 000km service left so you might take a chance if you can't wait

"For VW, Audi 1.8T.

Find out what it will cost for installation. I bought a second hand unichip for my Golf 4 TDI a while back and the guys at SAC said that it carries a lifetime guarantee.

That price is most likely only for the unichip without the boost controller, which you need for Turbo cars, the boost controller is around R500 plus R1000 for installation and setup...

My advice would be find a tuner near where you live... and who supports a well know brand...

Ie I am in cape town.... so The only chip i could really get is a REVO.. with them haveing Ferrolis down here as an agent... .. sure chiplogic, freiling racin and tuning concept are awesome chips... but no support in cape town... this in not a dig.....

Buy any big name should be good... PS avoid SAC unless you are willing to pay... they will give you good service and look after you, but they will not be afraid to burn your pockets...

My 2 Cents..

Thanks for the info. I'm in Pretoria, so I take it there are alot of tuning places around here ... and alot who can burn your pockets ... that's the thing, I'm not willing to pay R5000 for a bloody chip ...

I see Dastek is also near me, so I will 1st get a qoute there as well ...

Dastek make the Unichip... you can go to upsolute they are 3200 for a chip... tuning concept are 4000ish..... Jaco has a tuning concept chip it is nice.. and they have international presents...

I would not go unichip.. it is to tunable... and unless I 100% trusted the turner I would probally want to go with something tried and tested....I am not sure about location... but you options are probally (in no order of preference) Freiling, APR, Tuning Concept, Chiplogic, Revo...

Have a chat to all they tuners who do those.. chip.. see who you get on with then look at price is my advice... no point getting a chip from someone who dont really want to talk to..

I just wouldn't get a unichip .. my opnion .. I would rater spend the 2k on a full exhaustor or eibachs......

My mods are gonna be in order...

springs.. probally exhaust .. then chip..

Hi.

I've got a set of 4 Simoni 35mm springs and Monroe shocks for sale at the end of the month for R2000. The shocks have about 10k km's on them, and I've got the invoices for both.

Anyone interested ? Pics below

You need to look at a few points, as mentioned, here are a few more
1) Load a map via the serial port, much easier than any add on.
2) Make sure you have a copy of the modified and standard files.
3) New Audi diagnostic software will be able to "see" you have a modified map !!!
4) be prepared to drive back and forth to the supplier everytime you want to take the car in for service, so they can set car back to standard.
5) Make sure your supplier will reload the file when Audi delete yours .... at no cost of course.

just my 2 cents worth ....

Um, to be totally honest, I have no idea. Supa Quick contacted Audi and Monroe, asked them what to put on given that I have shorter springs, and thats what they ordered
