We've all read a whole stack about tyres, and I know that when my current set is worn out that the PS2's seems to be the answer. And obviously quattro will also sort this out - don't worry, I'm just waiting for Will to sort out his software for the new 3.0 TDI A6...

BUT...

I currently have Dunlop SP9000's fitted to the car - my 1.9TDi A4 Avant. I loaded REVO about 30km after I got the car, so I can't say I did much comparitive driving. Anyway, now with 125kW odd and 390Nm, (depending on which Dyno you want to believe).. I have a wheel spin problem. In first and second I have to back off when the turbo kicks in (2000rpm) or the wheels spin. It sometimes even does it in 3rd.

Towing the caravan to Kimberley this weekend (oh ja, hey, where was the escort out of town I requested?) was a real killer - I just couldn't pull away from any stop without spinning the wheels, and ESP just can't keep up.

My question is, is the problem with the tyres, or have I just beaten any hint of traction by loading the REVO software?

Cheers
Rich...

Hi Rich

think it might be actually 2 things.

firstly tyres, probably. when you saw me last i had the Michelin Pilot Primacy on my car, well since fitted a set of Bridgestone S03 and wow what a difference, where the Michelins jsut sqeecked around just about every corner and always slipped a bit to the side when going round corners the Bridgestones are rock solid and quiet, what a difference, feels like a difference car.

So firstly ye, prbably your car,

Second though, towing a caravan if thr caravan is loaded wrong and you have a front wheel drive will end in spinning tyres. The trick to remember when towing anything for that matter is that our tow bars are generally only designed to accomodate about 70KG. That means 70KG of force of the tow point, more than that and it pushes your car into the ground, probably got a chance of breaking and kills fule/diesel consumption, less and it lifts the back, also not to nice.
