Just browsed through the Auto Trader's website and came across a '03 1.9 TDi Avant with 95K on the clock, 6 speed and selling for R179 000.....surely this is VERY much value for money....or what ?? the pic looks very neat and clean !!

That TDI has done a lot of milage in one year.

The price does seem good for the year - but taking milage into consideration, its steep.

Another important thing is to check that all the oil changes were adhered to.

Simon

PS. BTW I heard that those motors not so fantastic after 100k km.

One year old car with 95000km WOW this is like huge milage I recon they should pay you to take this car......R175000 is way too much the year makes no diff. I'd rather get a 2002 with 60-70k than this one.
My opinion only

Isn't that kind of mileage indicative of LONG distance driving as opposed to town/city driving?

I seem to recall that long distance puts far less strain on the car than town/city driving. (?)

But the freeway plan will have to be renewed/extended.

I was thinking that it could also depend on when in '03 this vehicle was registered...if it was early '03 then the car is basically almost 2 years old i.e +/- 48K a year (which is still high is suppose)...anyway, thanks for the input, i tend to agree with you Ved...a 2002 with less mileage is a better buy !!

hey there guys.

ive got my TDi now 2 months and i put on 15000km.
(thats why i parked it off and am using my tazz to work now ha ha)

speed cop from durbs put on 30 000km in two months on his allroad.

so 95000km in one year seems a lot, but also not really.

i guess for that amount of cash, buy it and have it checked by audi and have them fix any faults under freeway plan asap.

thats what i would do.

take care, chat again soon.

Hi there

a previous car i owned went for a 10000km service every 6 weeks, became personal friends with the service guys at the garage i was so often there. 200km every day plus weekens of 700km.

so anything is possible, my previous Audi i bought also had high mileage on it, the previous owner staye din Randburg and worked at Sasol in Sasolburg. high mileage via long distance travel did not bother me, i actually preverred it since i prefer constand revs/ good cooling/ constant power requirements on a engine compared to high mileage in town, stop go, bad for car.

my 2cents worth.

G
