I know that this is probably OTT, but I do not trust any dealers and just wanted to see if anyone can confirm that Audi Sandton uses one of the approved fully synthetic oils from the list posted on the forum a while ago?
I am very happy with their service levels, just wanted to make sure about this.
Thanks guys, all the best over the festive season,
Vlad.

If anyone does it by the book, Sandton does! I am pretty certain you would leave the workshop with the right spec oil in your car. But I am sure you could enquire from Brett or Tony if you needed confirmation?

Lovely...what do I do now? My car is scheduled to go for a 45k service on the 21st, do I take it there, or go to another dealership which actually uses the correct oil?
This makes me f******* FURIOUS!!!!! How can Audi SA allow this, and how can the dealers do something like this even though they have been instructed otherwise?

Last I asked them they vouched that they do use 5w40 Fully Syntetic as per VAG spec...I haven't seen the drums they use though.
Phone and ask Tony/Anil/Brett 011-783-4750

The problem is that the way Castrol describes the LL01 oil Castrol TXT Softec outperforms heavier viscosities with respect to volatility and inlet manifold wetting in harsh South African and Namibian test conditions where oil sump temperatures exceeded 150°C operating temperatures." and they say it is turbo charger proven. This is not said about the 5W40 oil.
Can somebody please explain this to me? Maybe we should email Castrol

I have been supplying my own synthetic oil - on a NA car they use Castrol Magnatec - I have never asked for a reimbursement, but I guess it is worth a try!

Since I got my urS6 in 2000 I have ALWAYS supplied my own oil - Mobil 1 - which I get from Porshe in Randburg (they always have plenty stock).
Just check your invoice at the end to make sure that they don't charge you for oil.
The Audi Dealers that I questioned back then said that they used a BP semisyn?
I guess you always get people saying that you stand the chance that your Mobil 1 doesn't end up in your car...well then you might as well think of 1000 other things that could happen to your car when you leave at them for a day:)
Good luck
Will

Ummm.. this may sound dumb but what is the difference between 5w30 and 5w40..I see Caltex is selling the milkshake SLX 0w30 again, call it milkshake because one of my previos cas would drink it down a litre a week...
