Just got my car back from Audi centre cape town, The service advisor were running there feet off fixxing problems, And I could see they were busy... Thats not there fault but at the end of the day with all the interuptions I had to wait 45min to pick a car that was ready...

Not good....

then I get the news that the cup holder there placed on my car was R949 incl vat... for a cup holder.. nevefr mind the shock absorber they are replaceing for R880.. is someone trying to tel me a cup holder is more expensive than a high performance shock ????

The Bottom Line is that I am not happy...

Gregg

You could get a a set of Monroe shock absorbers for that price BTW.....

These things are extremely expensive for no good reason..when I had an A4 the Drivers armrest clip was busted R1200 plus Vat. Lucky dealer who sold car to me paid for it...similar clip on my wifes TDI is about R60 + VAT, on VW it is a servicable part on AUDI whole unit has to be replaced.

I don't think a shock and a cup holder is worth the same. The problem is that shocks need to be replaced every now and then and cup-holders hopefully not that often. So economics take over - what does it cost to hold stock of cup holders in case one breaks - you can calculate the holding cost of shocks much easier!

That said at the price they charged you for a shock you can nearly buy Bilstein or Koni shocks which should theoretically outlast your car!

BTW, driving a car that only 40 odd were sold in the country makes the first point very applicable to me! It is cheaper for Audi to hold stock of A4 ash trays of which thousands were sold in the country than to hold stock of a S2 ash tray

I am sorry to hear about your problems with Audi Centre CT.
Our experience with them, when Christophe was in Cape Town, was examplary. They fixed a problem with the S3, no-one-else was able to fix...
Also when one coil went wrong, they did not piss about and did change all of them as a safety/preventive measure.

André
