I spent Saturday afternoon at Track Mania at Wesbank and had some great fun. Did a best of 1m:28s. There were a few quick Scoobies doing 1m:21s.

One of my biggest problems was brake fade, especially at the end of the straight where you brake from about 190km/h into a sharp left hander. (besides my understeering problem which was drastically improved by putting my Bridgestone S03s on front and Contis on back)

Shane/Gandalf, I know you guys have done some work on your S2s brakes. Any advice you can give. I was thinking of Praggia disks and pads depending on price.

Are you using Castrol SRF or Motul 600 brake fluid? What pads are you using?

If you are going to put the car on the track often bigger brakes is a must! I have Porsche (Brembo) 993 Turbo 4 pot calipers and they work a charm. I believe that option is going to cost about R10000 for new calipers (unless you can find them second hand). Shane has the Praggia 6 pot calipers and they only cost R6000 for the calipers. He must comment on them but I have not heard any complaints from him.

HI Guys
I import wilwood calipers. I currently have 120-7429 4 pot superlite calipers in stock. A set will set you back R3750. This Calipers can handle up to 32mm disk thickness with diameter of up to 330mm disks.

Cheers

Hi Grant

I have the Praggia on the S2 and the Porsche Brembos on the RS2.
The Praggias are much better. They now have the 8 POT Callipers at a similar price.

There are 3 types of PADs , Ferrodo, M Benz and EBC, and they range from R500 to R700 a set and last forever.

Slotted Disks seem to be better for our use as the drilled ones are normally not cast with holes but actually drilled after manufacturing, these then crack and clogg up with brake dust and also eat pads like a grater.

The Hats have to be machined from a solid piece of Aluminum and can be costly. The A8 302mm ( maybe 308) disks can also be used.

The Praggia set up will cost you about R10 000 but a bargin when compared to their competitors which they believe is Alcon Brembo, and AP which range from R20000 to R25 000 for an 8POT setup.

I acn also vouch for the Praggia calipers, I have 6 pots fitted to the 80 on 305mm slotted disks and the work a charm.

I woulkd love to come and show it off although it is far from done. I am supposedly getting it back from the shop on Saturday. Had a service and some smaal things fixed.
BTW I am getting am original RS2 front bumber, side repeaters and hopefully mirrors from Germany in Jan 2005. Will hopefully look like a RS2 soon, from the front at least.
OK enough chatter, back to Saturday, if you could please direct me to the Diner and if I get the car back I am there. I will be coming on the N1 from Roodepoort and then take Fourways/Monte Casino offramp, lost from there please help.

Denis if if comming from the Roodepoort side take the W.Nicol offramp turning right at the robots (in direction Sandton/Randburg)
I think you will go past 3-4 sets of robots ( +/- 3 km) when you see the new Bentley / Renault dealerships that are on your right slow your monster down as Jackson Diners is on your left hand side cant miss it retro 50's American JukeBox look alike structure there is a new 4x4 or car dealer right next to it so very unlikely to miss it.
Thats it... if you get through to the big intersection of W.Nicol / Main you have gone 500m too far turn back...
By the way Andre should have posted directions to all members I got it this morning.
