My A4 1.8T has started stalling quite a bit. I've noticed that it mainly happens just after I've entered our underground parking after swiping my access card, i.e. I'll pull up to the boom, stop, swipe card and start to ease into the parking and stall. Apart from p.e.b.s.a.s. what other things should I look for and would these sorts of things show up as errors?
Thanks!
Ray

vacuum leaks could be a cause.

could also be a water pump or one of the other pumps/alternator on the verge of failing. they start to sieze and put too much load on the engine at idle.

on your model it may have something to do with one of the sensors for the injection system?

Dropped my Audi off at Sandton and they found the temp switch had failed. They say this should sort out my high fuel consumption and stalling issues. Lets hope so as I don't want to have to resort to granny mode driving

Hi Raymond.

Did you also have a problem with the revs fluctuating very slightly at idle and also the heat gauge going above the half way mark when the car is idling afer a trip?

I thought I was getting decent consumption on my TT until I heard of other guys, who drive S3's really hard, getting better consumption than I was. I was told that my temp sensor might be faulty as well.

Thanks.

Yes! I did have revs fluctuating very slightly at idle. The rev counter would dip slightly every so often. Since the new switch my car is soooo much smoother. And it is accelerating like a bomb. It scared my slightly

Yup , the black temp sender switch is known to fail , hence the upgrade is green in colour. Altho Audi/VW will only change it if u complain about it -

Mine is a 1999 A4 1.8T. It has done 138000 Km but as I bought it pre-owned it is still under FWP. It would have cost ~R500 (The invoice is still in the car if you want an exact price)
